Chapter 4

The morning sun cast long shadows across my Hamptons estate as I reviewed security reports in my home office. The peaceful silence was shattered by a call from my head of security.

"Ms. Howell, we have a situation at the outer gates. Alpha Ross and approximately fifteen of his pack members are demanding entry. They've bypassed the security protocols."

My blood ran cold. "How did they get past the outer gates?"

"They're claiming Alpha rights to the property," he replied, his voice tight with controlled anger. "They've disabled the electronic security system."

I rose from my desk, my fingers instinctively touching the blue diamond ring on my finger. "Activate the inner perimeter defenses and call the Lycan guards."

"Yes, ma'am."

I moved to the security monitor, watching as Nathaniel strode across my property like he owned it, flanked by his pack members. Liana trailed behind them, her face a mask of resignation and something else—fear, perhaps.

"Marcus," I called through the intercom, "Nathaniel's here with his pack. They've breached the outer gates."

"I'm on my way," my brother replied, his voice deadly calm.

I stepped outside onto the terrace, where I could see them approaching the main house. Nathaniel walked with the confidence of a man who believed himself untouchable, his chestnut hair gleaming in the sunlight.

"Elena!" he called out, his voice carrying across the lawn. "I've come to take what's mine!"

I remained perfectly still, my expression unreadable as they approached. My Omega staff had gathered at the entrance, uncertain what to do.

Nathaniel mounted the steps to the terrace, his pack fanning out behind him. Up close, I could see the madness in his eyes—a desperate, obsessive gleam that sent chills down my spine.

"This is private property," I said, my voice carrying the subtle weight of my Lycan Queen authority. "You're trespassing."

He laughed, the sound hollow and arrogant. "Trespassing? This land belongs to my future Luna. That makes it Ross Pack territory."

He turned to my staff, his Alpha aura flaring. "You're all dismissed. Pack members only beyond this point."

My Omegas looked to me, confusion and fear evident on their faces.

"They stay," I said firmly. "You leave."

Nathaniel's smile hardened. "You seem confused about your position, Elena. Allow me to clarify."

He turned to his pack members. "Remove the Omega staff. They're not welcome in an Alpha's home."

Two of his men moved toward my head housekeeper, Maria, who had served my family for decades.

"That's enough," I said, stepping forward.

But Nathaniel was beyond reason. He swept his arm across a nearby antique side table, sending priceless artifacts crashing to the floor.

"Everything in this house belongs to me now," he declared, his voice rising with manic energy. "You included."

He turned to Liana, who stood silent at the edge of the group. "Start packing her things. We're leaving today."

Liana didn't move. "Nathaniel, please—"

"Now!" he roared, his Alpha tone making several of my staff flinch.

I felt something snap inside me. "Guards," I called calmly.

My elite Lycan guards materialized from their positions around the property, surrounding Nathaniel's pack members.

"Remove Alpha Ross and his pack from my property," I ordered, my voice ice-cold. "By any means necessary."

The guards moved forward, their supernatural strength evident in their controlled movements.

"You can't do this!" Nathaniel shouted, his face contorting with rage and disbelief. "I'm your Alpha!"

"You're nothing," I replied, watching as my guards began physically lifting his pack members.

Just as the situation was reaching its peak, the massive double doors behind me swung open with a thunderous crash.

The temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly as a wave of pure, undiluted power rolled across the terrace. Every werewolf present—including Nathaniel's strongest pack members—dropped to their knees, necks bared in involuntary submission.

I didn't need to turn around to know who had arrived.

"Touch my mate again," Leonardo's voice cut through the silence like a blade of ice, "and I'll tear your throat out myself."

I turned slowly to face my husband, drinking in the sight of him. His eyes glowed with lethal intent, his Lycan aura so powerful it was almost visible—a shimmering darkness that made even the strongest Alphas cower.

Nathaniel struggled to lift his head, fighting against the overwhelming pressure of Leonardo's presence. "Who... what are you?" he gasped.

Leonardo stepped forward, placing a protective hand at the small of my back. His cedarwood and mint scent enveloped me, washing away the stench of Nathaniel's intrusion.

"I," Leonardo said, his voice deadly quiet, "am the Lycan King."
