Chapter 1

My brother brought his girlfriend home. Because she had OCD, she threw my cat out of the window from the eighth floor.

"Being around animals for everything is disgusting. Don't get me infected."

I packed her luggage and threw it in the trash.

"Sorry, if I ever let you into this house again, you can reverse my name," I said.

"Olivia, this is my girlfriend, Jane," Shane said.

When I opened the door, I saw a pretty girl standing next to my brother.

The girl was wearing Bluetooth earphones. She looked at me without any expression and then looked back down at her phone.

Shane scratched his head and smiled awkwardly. "She's shy and doesn't like to talk," he said.

My smile froze, but I kept my basic politeness. "You must be tired. Change your shoes and come in for dinner," I said.

I turned and took out a new pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet. Before I could place them down, Jane stepped onto the clean floor in her boots.

I saw the mud on the white floor tiles and swallowed my frustration. I put the slippers back.

Before I could react, a sharp, disgusted voice came from behind. "Ah! A cat! So dirty. Keep it away from me!

"Shane! Why is there a cat in your house? Don't you know I have OCD?" she said.

The cat, Lucy, was a birthday gift from my parents. It was very gentle. Jane's scream scared it, and it hid under the couch.

Shane gave me an awkward look and patted Jane on the back to comfort her.

"This is Olivia's cat. It's very well-behaved," he said.

Jane stomped her foot and shrugged her shoulders, throwing a tantrum. "Do you know how many germs are on a cat?

"Who can stay around such dirty things all day? Someone like me with OCD can't stand it for a moment," she said.

I clenched my fists, suppressing my anger. I calmly looked for the cat and opened a can of cat food to comfort it.

Seeing this, Jane scoffed. "You treat it so well. I wonder if you're as considerate towards your parents?

"Sometimes I don't get it. People spoil their pets with treats while their parents are at home eating poor food," she said.

I looked up and gave a forced smile. "Didn't you say you don't like to talk? Why are you saying so much?

"The cat food is over there. If your parents are really eating poor food, you can take some for them," I said.

Jane pointed at me, ready to be angry. "What do you mean by that?" she said.

Then she twisted my brother's arm. "Shane, Olivia is already giving me attitude before I'm married. Do I have to deal with this outsider once I move in?"

Shane glanced at me awkwardly, giving me a pleading look. "Olivia, it's Jane's first day here. Can you give her a break?" he said.

I took a deep breath. Fine, for my brother's sake, I decided not to argue with her.

Jane saw me calm down and started to chatter even more.

"You're just bored and have nothing to do! You should be out dating instead of sitting around. No wonder you're so old and still not married!" she said.

I turned and glared at my brother. Shane quickly put his arm around Jane's shoulder. "Please, stop talking," he said.

Jane noticed the exchange of looks between me and my brother. Suddenly, she got a mischievous look and shook off his hand, starting to stir trouble.

"Shane, I think she cares more about that cat than you," she said.

I almost laughed in anger. "Did you eat something disgusting? Your mouth is so foul," I said.

Jane's expression changed. "Do you think I want to interfere? But who asked you to stay here constantly without getting married, freeloading, and even keeping a useless pet?

"If you want to keep it, that's fine. But from now on, you'll have to hand over half your monthly salary as rent and living expenses. And you better not take another penny from Shane's parents.

"Also, you must move out before Shane and I get married," she said.

I was completely speechless. Did she even realize what she was saying? How shameless!

Most of the money for this house came from my earnings from live streaming, and the property deed is in my name.

"Who do you think you are?" I said.

Jane raised her head proudly. "Who am I? I'll be the lady of this house once I marry Shane," she said.

"So you know you're not married yet?

I've never met someone so shameless in my life!"

My brother awkwardly pressed his lips together and tried to pull Jane's hand to lead her inside.

I couldn't be bothered to pretend anymore. I opened the door and bluntly told her, "Sorry, but you're not welcome in my house!"

Jane was angry after hearing that.

"How dare you! I called you 'Olivia' out of courtesy, and you think you're above me? You don't welcome me? Do I need your welcome to visit my boyfriend's house?

"Shane is the only son of this family. Everything here belongs to him. Once you get married, you'll be an outsider. Who are you to make me leave?

"And your cat is disgusting," she said.

I didn't have time to react. Jane rushed to Lucy and grabbed it. She then ran towards the window.

I was anxious. I reached out to grab her arm, but Lucy had already been thrown out the window.

Thankfully, the cat landed on the open balcony downstairs. I quickly ran to my neighbor's place.

Lucy was frightened. She curled up in my arms, meowing. My heart ached, and my body trembled.

If I could still tolerate this, then I've wasted the past twenty years of my life.

Filled with rage, I returned home to find Jane sitting on my bed, directing my brother to take all the clothes out of my closet.

"I like the big balcony in Olivia's room. Shane, tell her to give me this room," she said.

"What if Olivia doesn't agree?" he said.

"Shane, are you a man or not? Do you still have to listen to Olivia?" she said.

"Huh, sorry.

I do have the final say in this house."

I kicked the door open with a bang, coldly staring at Jane. I grabbed her suitcase from the floor and threw it straight into the trash outside.

Jane was stunned for a second, then immediately started to go crazy.

"Are you out of your mind?

"You dare throw out my suitcase? You're a child with no upbringing!

"Pick up my suitcase right now and apologize to me," she said.

I didn't say anything. I stepped forward and grabbed her hair. I dragged her out the door, throwing her outside.

"Get out! Don't dirty my doorstep!" I said.

Jane clutched her head in pain, cursing non-stop.

Seeing that I didn't stop, she started cursing at my brother.

"Shane, are you blind?" she said.

My brother saw I was serious and tried to step in. I threw him out the door as well.

Jane found an opening and raised her hand to slap me. I grabbed her wrist and slapped her hard instead. "Get out!" I said.

Before she could react, I slammed the door shut.

Jane continued banging on the door. I called security. As the homeowner, I had both of them kicked out of the community.

It was instantly peaceful. Even my stress melted away.

Less than ten minutes later, I received a voice message from my brother. Jane's hysterical voice was mixed with my brother's complaints.

[Olivia, you dared to treat me like this today. I will tell your mom, and she'll deal with you!] Jane said.

[Olivia, you really went too far today. Jane just has some OCD. How could you kick us out? You're older than her. Can't you just let it go? If you don't apologize, I'll never come back!] Shane said.

"You still want to threaten me?

It's fine if you don't come back. I regret not realizing sooner what kind of person my brother really is.

If you're that tough, then don't ask me for allowance anymore. Since I started making money from live streaming, my brother's allowance mostly came from me.

Let's see how long you can last out there," I thought.

Two days later, I got a call from my mom.

"Olivia, I heard from Shane that you fought with him. He said you kicked him out and won't let him come back.

"And his girlfriend, it was her first time visiting our home. I told you beforehand that you should be a good host. Why did you make her cry instead? The older you get, the less you act like a sister," she said.

"So they went and complained first?

Fine, if they want to complain, so can I." I told my mom everything that happened that day in one go.

I knew my mom was always fair and wouldn't favor either of us. She always sided with the one who was right.

Sure enough, my mom was silent for a few seconds after hearing it.

"Alright, we'll talk when I get back," she said.

But as soon as I hung up, my company assistant sent me an urgent message.

[Olivia, you need to come to the office immediately. There's a problem with our products. Many people online report skin damage from using our products.]

I was stunned. I quickly packed my bag and left.

But right at the community gate, I saw a familiar figure.

Jane was sitting in a café, dressed up and looking into the community.

As soon as she saw me, she smiled smugly and swayed over. It was obvious she was waiting for me on purpose.

I wondered how she knew I'd be going out today. She threw a cup of coffee at me, clearly looking for trouble.

"Oops, sorry about that, Olivia," she said.

"Get lost," I said.

I glared at her. I focused on dealing with the company's issues, not wanting to engage with her.

Online rumors spread quickly. Delaying to address the crisis could cause immeasurable damage to the company.

Just as I was about to walk away, Jane grabbed my hand.

"Olivia, don't leave. What's the rush?" she said.

I shook off her hand in frustration. But she held on tighter like she was stalling for time. I lowered my voice. "Jane, don't make me slap you in public," I said.

Jane put on a pitiful face, but her words were still vicious. "Go ahead and hit me. Let's see if you have the guts," she said.

I gritted my teeth and raised my hand. I was ready to slap her, but then I saw a sly smile on her lips.

I stopped suddenly, suspicion rising in my mind. It seemed like she was trying to provoke me on purpose.

I looked around but didn't notice anything unusual.

Jane seemed to sense my hesitation and pulled my hand, sitting down on the ground.

I realized too late that I had fallen into her trap.

My phone rang again. The assistant urged me to come to the office quickly. I didn't have time to think. I grabbed Jane and drove to the office.

"It's better to keep her from causing more trouble while I'm busy."

As soon as I got to the office and understood the situation, I locked Jane in an office and immediately started a live stream.

As expected, the comments were full of insults.

"The streamer is heartless. Her whole family should die for selling poor quality cosmetics."

"My friend bought her cosmetics before and got a bad reaction. Then her company covered it up."

"She should go to jail. Call the cops and have her in prison."

Since I started live streaming, I've always made sure my fans get the best value cosmetics. Every product I promoted was personally tested by me. I'm sure someone is trying to sabotage me on purpose.

I looked at the comments full of complaints and cleared my throat.

"I hope you guys will trust me one more time. I promise to accept legal punishment if the products I promote have quality issues.

"Before that, I will livestream the product inspection for everyone. And anyone who bought the product can get a refund with proof of purchase."

I looked seriously into the camera. "I will take responsibility for everyone," I said.

At this point, the comments started to change. Some fans came out to defend me.

"I've been a fan for years and used her products with no issues."

"Yeah, she's always been a thoughtful streamer. I don't believe she'd do something so horrible."

"The streaming industry is so competitive now. Someone must be sabotaging her."

Public opinion started to shift. I immediately had my assistant begin product sampling and inspection.

At that moment, another video was leaked.

The video showed Jane and me at the community gate, but it was edited to remove the part where she threw coffee on me. It looked like I maliciously pushed her to the ground.

The caption read, "Went to confront the streamer and got pushed to the ground. How will consumers' rights be protected?"
