My Alpha Rejected Me for His Fake Pregnant Luna Novel Cover

My Alpha Rejected Me for His Fake Pregnant Luna

At 10:14 on a Tuesday night, Dallas shattered our mate bond in front of two hundred wolves. For months I had held the Silverfang alliance together, negotiating every clause and settling territorial disputes through fourteen rounds of talks while he sent his regrets. Then, in the heels Lucy forced on me, I finally smiled—until my Alpha walked to the center of the great hall and chose another. His fake pregnant Luna. The bond that was mine to claim snapped before every watching wolf, and the crowd went silent. Betrayal, power, and a werewolf romance where nothing stays buried.

Chapter 4

The message came at first light.

I was already dressed, standing at the window of the residence with a cup of tea gone cold in my hand. The heat in my bones had woken me hours before dawn. Lyra was pacing again, quiet but coiled, and my skin felt like it was two sizes too small.

Silas's Beta knocked once and stepped inside without waiting.

"Alpha Reed is at the south border," he said. "Twelve warriors. He's using Alpha tone through the gate."

I set the cup down. My hand was steady.

"Does Silas know?"

"He's on his way to the courtyard now. Councilman Rhys is with him."

I nodded. I walked past the Beta, down the corridor, through the arched doorway that opened onto the outer grounds. My hands were still wrapped in gauze from the wolfsbane burns Rosie had given me weeks ago. The skin underneath was pink and new and tender.

Silas was standing at the courtyard's edge when I reached it. He turned the moment my scent hit the air. His eyes went to my hands first. Then to my face.

He did not tell me to go back inside.

"He's demanding the pup," Silas said quietly. "Calling her his property."

"I heard."

"I can meet him."

"No." I looked past him, toward the gate. "He came for me. He should see me."

Silas held my gaze for a long moment. Then he stepped aside.

Callum Rhys, the Lycan King's Beta, was standing three paces behind Silas. He inclined his head to me as I passed. His nostrils flared slightly, the way a wolf's does when something in the air changes. He didn't say anything. But his eyes tracked me all the way across the courtyard.

The gates opened.

Dallas stood on the other side with his warriors fanned out behind him. Twelve of them, in wolf form, muzzles low and hackles raised. Dallas was in his human form. He was thinner than I remembered. There were shadows under his eyes. His jaw was set in that upward angle I'd learned to read years ago — the one that meant he felt his authority slipping.

He looked me over slowly. Took in the bandaged hands. The weight I'd lost. The scar on my neck where his half-mark still sat cold and dead.

His mouth curled.

"Arielle." His voice carried that low pressure of Alpha tone. Reflexive. Habitual. "You're coming home. And you're bringing my heir with you."

I stopped six paces from him. The courtyard was silent behind me.

"No."

Dallas's jaw tightened. He took a step forward. The Alpha tone dropped lower, harder, wrapping around the syllables like wire.

"Submit to Ironclad authority. Now. Or I take you and the pup by force."

I felt the tone press against my chest. Seven years ago it would have made me flinch. A month ago it would have made me steady my breath and choose my words carefully.

Today it slid off me like water off stone.

I got quieter.

"You rejected me, Dallas." My voice was level. "In front of two hundred wolves. You stepped over my body. You called my pup a runt."

"That doesn't change pack law—"

"You don't own me." I took one step closer. "You never did."

Something shifted inside me.

The heat that had been building in my bones for weeks reached a point I couldn't hold. Lyra pressed forward, and this time she didn't ask.

*"Do not be afraid of the size of it."*

I dropped to my knees.

Not in submission. In shift.

My spine cracked. My ribs cracked. My skin split and reformed, and the pain was total, but it was clean pain — the kind that came from something making itself right after years of being made wrong. I heard Dallas shout something. I heard Silas's voice cut across the courtyard, sharp and urgent, telling everyone to stand back.

I doubled in mass. Then tripled.

My hands became paws that were bigger than a man's chest. My hair became fur that was the color of moon on snow. I felt Lyra unfurl inside me — not as a passenger, not as a separate voice, but as everything I had always been and never been allowed to know.

I stood.

And when I stood, my head was higher than the gate.

Silver-white. Enormous. The aura that came off me was not a wave. It was a weight — a physical pressure that rolled outward across the courtyard like a tide of something ancient and absolutely certain.

Behind me, I heard bodies hit the ground.

Every Ironclad warrior dropped. Not one stayed on its feet. Their wolves whimpered, bellies pressed flat to the stone, tails tucked, eyes squeezed shut.

Dallas's knees buckled.

He fought it. I could see it in the strain of his neck, the way his hands scrabbled at the dirt. His wolf was forcing his body down against his will, and Dallas was trying — actually trying — to stay upright. He couldn't. His forehead hit the ground. His shoulders shook.

He looked up at me. From the dirt.

His face drained of color.

He stared up at the wolf that dwarfed his own, and for the first time since I had known him, Dallas Reed looked at something he could not manage.

Behind me, I heard movement. A knee hitting stone.

Callum Rhys. The Lycan King's Beta. On one knee, his head bowed, his voice shaking with something that sounded like awe and grief and recognition all at once.

"That blood-scent —" His voice cracked. He drew breath. "I know this bloodline. I have known it since I was a boy in the King's own court."

He lifted his head. His eyes were wet.

"She is the lost Princess of the Lycan Crown."

The courtyard went utterly still.

Dallas, on the ground, stared up at me. His mouth opened. No sound came out.
