Chapter 2

That night, I received a call from my agent, Nancy.

I was invited to be a guest on a Pet-themed Variety Show, which was not very prestigious.

But for someone who had been unemployed for nearly two months, having work to do was already pretty good. How could I be picky?

Besides, raising a 'son' was expensive. Going on a variety show allowed me to make money and allowed my 'son' to eat to his heart's content.

It was a win-win situation.

Because I was afraid that the production team would change their minds, I couldn't sleep well all night.

The next morning, I took Goldie with me to sign the contract. When Nancy saw Goldie, she frowned and absolutely refused to let me bring it in.

"Cherry Levins, you have been heavily criticized online because of this dog. How dare you bring it out?"

Nancy was my Nancy at university, and I was the first artist she signed after becoming an agent.

And now, I was the only artist on her roster who achieved minor celebrity status.

I blinked my innocent big eyes and asked, "Nancy, this is a Pet-themed Variety Show. Do you want me to be the pet if I don't bring Goldie?"

Nancy choked on her words and imagined a scene where I became a pet, which scared her and made her shake her head instantly.

"Let Goldie as the guest! If you become the pet, I'm afraid you will go everywhere in the whole program group."

"Yes, this is me, with only a face that is still presentable, but my spirit is free." I thought.

The program's producer lit up when he saw Goldie as if he had seen the God of Wealth.

The program had a total of 12 episodes, but they only signed me for 6 episodes.

They wanted to assess the impact of the broadcast before deciding whether to proceed with further signings in the future.

I knew they treated me as a replaceable pawn, but I didn't mind.

Because it was hard for me to find a job now.

"Jobs that are easy to find are often difficult to do." I thought.

In the car, Nancy asked me whether Emerson and I had really broken up.

I hugged Goldie's big furry head and said, "Of course, the 'son' belongs to me; everything else belongs to him; I leave with nothing."

Nancy looked at me as if she were staring at a fool.

"Everything originally belongs to Emerson, what part is yours? You will have to return Goldie sooner or later."

Yes, Goldie was bought by Emerson.

We met at the pet store. We both liked Goldie.

But he was rich and powerful, and I couldn't compete with him.

I could only ask him to let me visit Goldie often.

Fortunately, he still retained some humanity and didn't reject me.
