Moonlit Revenge: A Luna’s Dark Turn
Chapter 1
I stared at my hand, where an IV fluid was attached. I am stuck in the four-cornered white room. It’s been two weeks since I was hospitalised in the pack's infirmary. I had an accident during hunting; I fell over a cliff. The healer said that I was lucky to be alive, and she was right; these past few weeks had been hell for me. My ribs and arms were broken, and my legs were broken, too. If I weren't the Luna, healing would probably take months.
"Hi," Lewis, my mate, kissed my cheeks when he arrived. "Is everything all right?"
"Yeah, still breathing."
My mate Lewis, the Alpha of the pack… After being busy these past few days, he finally had the time to visit me.
"Your bruises, broken bones, and wounds are already healing, Elysian. But you need to follow the healer's instructions, okay?"
I nodded, "I know. But I can't help feeling bored because I am always alone."
Alpha's brows furrowed, "You know that I have many things to do, right? That's why I can't visit you from time to time. The pack comes first, Elysian. And as a Luna, you must always remember that."
"I know," I tried to hide the pain away by smiling, but I could never deny that it hurts.
The pack’s healer told me I was still unfit to be discharged and that I needed to stay for a few days. And I agreed, even though I had many things to do since I was the mate of Alpha. I have many duties, such as the Luna of the pack.
But this time, I chose myself. If it were the old me, I would rush things up; I would beg the doctor for me to be discharged since I have to take care of things like Luna. And I have to take care of my mate–Lewis.
“Elysian,” Lewis called me, his eyes glued on the device he was holding.
“What is it?”
He looked at me with those eyes again, and I knew what he would say, "I-I have to go. Something important came up. You know I have many things to do as the Alpha, and emergencies like this are part of it. So you know... Just the usual thing."
I nodded, "You don't have to explain it to me." You said that to me a million times. I wanted to say that, but I stopped myself. I no longer want to show that I care for and long for him.
"I am sure the healer will take care of you. If you need anything, call me, okay?"
And in just the blink of an eye, my Alpha left me again.
"Luna," the healer of the pack called me.
I carefully sat down; the healer handed me all my medications, and I quietly drank them. Then she left me, and I was left alone again.
"Elysian," I jerked when I heard my mate's voice.
It was one of the things we could do after we bonded. We can talk through mind-link.
"What?"
"I might not be able to visit you tomorrow, but I will try the day after tomorrow. I am busy because there will be a meeting with the council. I will send some fruits to you tomorrow."
"Sure."
Then, our mind-link ended.
A week had passed, and my Alpha didn't even bother to visit me like he promised. I didn't even bother talking to him through our mind-link. And today, I will be discharged. After fixing my things, I waited for the healer's signature to discharge.
"Elysian," Alpha's voice echoed through my mind.
"What?"
"The healer notified me that you will be discharged today. However, I can't pick you up. Can you take a cab? I promise to see you at our home later."
"Okay."
After the approval of my discharge, I got out of the pack's infirmary. As I walked, I noticed a familiar figure. I saw Lewis standing; he was looking at his device. Is he here to pick me up? I wondered why he said he couldn't pick me up when he was here.
I decided to walk towards him, but I realised what was happening after a few steps. I covered my mouth, trying not to make a sound as I hid behind a bush.
I saw Andrea approaching Lewis, carrying her daughter in her arms. Lewis lifted his head, and his face automatically brightened when he saw them. I stepped back when I saw my Alpha kissing Andrea's cheek and then turned to Andrea's child, taking her into his arms.
My stomach churned as I watched them disappear, and I realised I had been nothing but a mere replacement that Alpha could toss once he got tired of it.
The memories I tried to forget flashed through my mind again. I touched my stomach, remembering what I had lost weeks after that woman returned. I lost the most important thing I ever had: my baby. And seeing my mate carrying someone else's child is killing me.
"Elysian? Where are you?" It was my mate again.
I wiped my tears, trying to hide the fact that I was hurt again, even though he couldn't see me.
"I'm on my way home."
"Okay, just checking on you. I will be home late, okay? So please don't wait for me. I am in an important meeting now. I gotta go, Elysian."
And this time, he broke my heart again.
