Chapter 2

My biological dad, Thomas Harrison, came home at dinner time.

At the dining table, Yvette acted coquettish as usual. She clung to Dad and asked him for a birthday gift. Mom also served Dad by placing food on his plate.

The whole family chatted and laughed together, ignoring me collectively. I couldn't help but start thinking once more:

"How could Mom still serve him food? Didn't she notice how Dad's eyes are practically glued onto Yvette? My word, it turns out that the baby in Yvette's belly actually belongs to Dad.

"What is it with the men in this family? Why are they all attracted to innocent and delicate young women like Yvette?

"Honestly, it isn't surprising that Dad likes Yvette. She does bear a slight resemblance to his first love. He wouldn't have ended up with Mom if it weren't for money. He married such a beauty and took over her family's assets.

"In the end, he teams up with Yvette to turn Mom into an outcast and a disgrace. What a masterful plan!"

The fork in Mom's hand slipped and fell to the ground with a clatter, along with the food she was holding.

Meanwhile, John and Zach hadn't recovered from their shock.

A woman dressed in a black suit handed Mom a fresh fork and thoughtfully cleaned up the mess.

"Thank you, Susan," Mom said as she thanked the housekeeper with a pale face. She breathed deeply, trying to regain her composure.

"It's nothing. Let me know if you need anything else," Susan said.

I glanced at the woman, Susan Owens. Huh? Why did the name Susan sound so familiar? Let me think…

At that moment, Mom and my two brothers paused in their actions simultaneously.

"Oh, she's one of Dad's mistresses. As expected of a scumbag like him… He has mistresses everywhere. However, Susan's already this old. Why does she still have such a strong libido? Earlier, she was practically begging Dad to plant a hickey on her body. Her neck is all bruised.

"It turns out that Dad had a mommy complex, huh? Tsk, tsk! No wonder Dad favors her for so long. In the end, Susan even manages to rival Yvette despite her age. Nonetheless, men still prefer younger women. Both of them lost to Susan's daughter in the end," I mused.

Mom dropped her fork again.

Right on cue, Susan appeared and bent down to pick them up.

Mom suddenly grabbed her by the collar and yanked her sweater down. Her neck was covered in hickeys, as if she just had a passionate make-out session earlier.

"Who did this?" Mom looked ferocious. She was so enraged that her breathing turned heavy.

Susan's expression faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered her composure. "Mrs. Harrison, this is a private matter."

"Yes, darling. Susan has been single for years. It's normal for her to have a boyfriend," Dad chimed in, trying to smooth things over.

Mom gave him a cold glance. "You have no right to speak here. Susan, I'll ask you one more time. Who did this? I'll fire you if you don't answer me."

Tears welled up in Susan's eyes. "Mrs. Harrison, this is my private matter. If you don't respect my privacy, I'll leave on my own."

At this point, Yvette also began to plead on behalf of Susan, "Mom, Susan has been with our family for so long. It's normal for her to have physical needs. How could you pry into her private life?"

My thoughts ran wild as I watched the scene unfold.

"As expected of Mom! She caught on so quickly. But why's Yvette pleading for her rival? What kind of malicious scheme is she plotting?" asked my mind.

"Tiffany, that's enough!" Zach burst out in anger before anyone else could speak. "Stop spreading lies!"

I said innocently, "But Zach, I didn't say anything."

"You clearly…"

I then realized, "Oh, I finally got it. Yvette's afraid that no one will be around to drug Zach once Susan leaves. This woman is truly sinister. She uses others to do her dirty work!"

Zach swallowed the rest of his sentence and fell silent.
