Chapter 2

Making trouble? I was so angry that I almost fainted.

“Frederick, you are a conscienceless ungrateful person! How could my sister be so blind to choose you to marry! When you married my sister, you knelt in front of the graves of my parents and brother and promised that you would treat her well for the rest of your life and you treated her like this?! You are a beast!”

Ramona looked impatient, raised her hand and slapped me a few more times.

I fell on the sofa and knocked over the box on it.

The red book of medals inside fell to the ground.

Ramona didn’t even look at it and stepped on it with disdain.

“You poor fellows, you are still here to hand over some insignificant papers. Don’t you just want me to pay more money? I have seen this kind of thing many times.”

As she said, she threw another card at my feet.

“Since your sister, the sick woman, has served Frederick wholeheartedly for so long, I will be merciful and give you a little more. I advise you to stop while you are ahead. After all, I only paid 13,000 dollars when I killed someone.”

In a light tone, a life was like a feather in her mouth.

Ramona felt tired and left a sentence for us to pack up and leave quickly. If we hadn’t left this place in three days, we would be in trouble.

She hugged Frederick’s arm and walked away.

After they left, I rushed to the bedside and held my sister’s hand tightly.

My heart was filled with grief. “Sister, don’t worry, I will definitely help you get justice.”

The appeal route was not working, so I could only take my sister’s injury report to the local Women’s Federation, hoping that they could intervene in this matter. Who knew that when I went there, they acted like a mouse seeing a cat.

One moment they said that my sister’s beating was not their business, that it was a civil case and that I should go to the police. The next moment, they said that this matter was a family dispute and that they could only mediate. Seeing that I remained unmoved, a kind-hearted elder sister sighed and advised me not to pursue it further.

“Miss Knight, who beat people, has already said that she will pay for your sister’s medical expenses and the cost of her subsequent rehabilitation. In addition, with the court’s ruling, your matter has been resolved.”

I couldn’t believe it. “Aren’t you an organization that makes decisions for women to petition? Why did Ramona, a mistress, bring people to beat up the original wife and rupture her spleen and you just pretended not to see it? How much benefit did you receive from her!”

Her face changed immediately when she heard this. “You little girl, don’t talk nonsense here. I’m telling you these heartfelt words for your own good. Why are you blaming me? I warn you, if you keep talking nonsense and making trouble here, don’t blame me for asking the security guards to throw you out.”

Why, why did this world only serve the powerful?

My sister was still lying in the ward and couldn’t even get out of bed.

The victim had nowhere to appeal, but the perpetrator was arrogant and at large!

I was finally kicked out of the Women’s Federation office.

I had no choice but to go to the police station.

After listening to my petition, the police were willing to take over my case.

Who knew that one by one, after hearing the court’s verdict, they all started to refuse.

“Little girl, when your sister was beaten, she had not divorced your brother-in-law. This situation can only be attributed to family disputes. What’s more, your brother-in-law has signed a letter of understanding. There is no room for maneuver in this matter.”

“Family dispute? My sister was almost beaten to death and you actually said it was a family dispute! Don’t you have a daughter? If your daughter was beaten like this, would you still sit back and do nothing!”
