Luna's Revenge: Make the Alpha Pay Chapter 1

Burdened by a prophecy foretelling her descent into darkness and ultimate sacrifice to restore harmony, Luna, the Moonlight Wolf, felt the weight of her future bearing down on her. Ostracized by her pack for the ominous prediction that shadowed her existence, she found solace in the embrace of her mate, the Alpha of the Crimson Howlers Pack, and their young daughter, Thalia. Together, they created a sanctuary in each other, a fragile haven amidst the storm brewing in the world outside.

On a fateful night, after representing their pack at a distant banquet, Luna, Thalia, and a convoy of loyal wolf warriors set out for home. The air was thick with anticipation as the scent of pine and damp earth filled their black SUV, flanked by two other vehicles brimming with their steadfast warriors. Luna felt a fleeting sense of relief wash over her; her mate had promised to meet them at the town's border for protection.

But then, a sharp twist of fate interrupted her peace. The Alpha's mind-link pierced through her thoughts, urgent and taut. I can't escort you. There’s a situation I must handle immediately.

A chill clawed its way down her spine. Panic began to swell within her as she responded, her voice trembling. What’s happening? Is it dangerous?

Silence answered her, a suffocating void that tightened around her chest. As her calls went unanswered, dread gripped her heart, turning her hands cold. Recent reports of crimes and rogue attacks near the border echoed in her mind. She and Thalia, the Alpha's heir, were prime targets for their enemies.

“Everyone, stay vigilant,” she urged her warriors, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside. They nodded, tension palpable in the air as they drove deeper into the darkening woods. The forest closed in around them, the shadows lengthening ominously, and Luna’s instincts screamed that something was wrong.

As they crossed the town's border, the road narrowed, flanked by looming trees that seemed to close in on them. A premonition slithered into her thoughts, chilling her to the bone. Just as she was about to voice her concerns, masked figures lunged from the underbrush, their silver-tipped weapons glinting in the moonlight.

The tranquil night shattered into chaos. Tires screeched as the convoy skidded to a halt, and the air erupted with growls and shouts. Luna’s heart raced as she was pulled from the vehicle, her grip tightening around Thalia, who stood wide-eyed and frightened beside her.

“Stay right by me, Thalia!” she yelled, but the chaos surged around them, swallowing her words. Warriors rushed to defend them, but the attackers—rival werewolves—struck with brutal efficiency, overwhelming her warriors one by one.

Luna's heart sank as she watched Thalia being pulled away by a warrior trying to shield her. Frantically, she searched for her daughter, her instincts screaming at her to protect her. But as the scene unfolded, despair twisted her stomach. One by one, her defenders fell, their bodies crumpling to the ground with sickening thuds.

“Get out of here! You have to save her!” her guards pleaded, desperation lacing their voices. But Luna couldn't move. She fought against their grip, her heart pounding with terror as blood splattered across the ground, painting a horrific picture of their defeat.

“Thalia!” she cried out, eyes wild as she tried to reach her daughter, but the chaos tore them apart. The last warrior fell, and Luna’s heart shattered as she saw Thalia standing alone, surrounded by massive rival wolves. Tears streamed down her face, fear etched into her features.

“Mommy! I need you! Please, help me.” Thalia’s cry pierced the night, a sound that shattered Luna’s soul into a million pieces. She struggled against her guards, sobs wracking her body as she pushed against their hold.

“Don’t hurt her, please!” Luna screamed, the world around her fading into a blur as she focused solely on her child. But the rival wolves lunged, their fangs bared, and in an instant, it was over.

Thalia’s lifeless body crumpled to the ground, her innocent eyes wide in shock, a final, haunting image that would etch itself into Luna's heart forever.

“No! Thalia! My precious girl!” Luna’s scream tore through the night, raw and agonizing as the prophecy’s dark shadow engulfed her. The weight of her destiny crashed down, and she was left grappling with the unbearable loss of her child. A darkness loomed on the horizon, whispering promises of sacrifice and sorrow, and Luna stood at its precipice, a mother shattered in a world fraught with danger, her heart irrevocably broken.
