Chapter 2

The memory lane brought me to the moment I met my husband, Jeremy. I could still remember everything very well. The moment when my pack, the Emerald Sky Pack, was suddenly attacked by the rogues. My parents, Alpha Thomas Cordon and Luna Lilianne Cordon, were brutally murdered in the sudden attack.

Sadly, the same unfortunate thing happened to the rest of the pack members. I was the only survivor from my pack. My wolf, Lucia, helped me to kill the last of the rogues, including the leader.

Unfortunately, my poor wolf became very weak to the point where I couldn’t even awaken her for months. Eventually, I spent a couple of months living quietly within the remnants of my pack. It was heartbreaking to see what was supposed to be a fertile land filled with happiness turned out to be the most harrowing thing that made the other packs refuse to come here.

Just when I thought that I had lost the meaning of life, Jeremy came into my life. I still remembered the exact moment when my blue eyes met his steely grey gaze for the first time as I warily asked him, “Who are you?”

“I’m Jeremy Black, the Alpha of the Black Ebony Pack. And you?” he calmly asked.

“I’m Adrianne Cordon from the Emerald Sky Pack. I’m the daughter of the late Alpha Thomas Cordon and Luna Lilianne Cordon,” I answered weakly, but I still stayed vigilant as I didn’t know the man before me very well.

“So, were the other packs not helping?” he asked me again.

“Well, I’m the only survivor. That should say something, right?” I responded to him as I kept looking at him while I was holding the silver dagger tightly.

After that, the Alpha chuckled. The black-haired man slightly grinned as he approached me. His hands stroked my face gently, making me meet his gaze again.

“You’ve made a strong impression on me, Adrianne. No one dares to hold a silver dagger on my presence. Yet, you dare to do that. I like you. Let me help you,” he said as his gaze looked at me intensely.

“Can I really trust you?” I questioned the man.

He chuckled as he replied to my question, “That’s up to you.”

That was when I realized how I fell head over heels for this man. I hated to admit it, but there was a time in my life that I saw Jeremy as my savior. The Alpha rescued me when I was about to end my life.

For a while, he was my knight in shining armor. I made a stupid move by agreeing to marry him the moment he asked for my hand. Yet, it was a warm moment that I would hold dearly in my heart. I still remembered the moment the Moon Priestess married me to the Alpha when the man brought me to the Ebony Pack to live with me.

“Do you, Jeremy Black of the Black Ebony Pack, agree to be the mate of Adrianne Cordon of the Emerald Sky Pack?” the Moon Priestess asked Jeremy.

“I do,” he said as he stared at me with gentleness I never knew he had in him.

Then, the Moon Priestess looked at me and asked, “And do you, Adrianne Cordon of the Emerald Sky Pack, agree to be the mate of Jeremy Black of the Black Ebony Pack?”

“I do,” I told the Moon Priestess.

Everything felt as if I was on top of the world. It was not until Olivia came into the picture. She managed to get my husband hooked. The moment I found out that I was pregnant was the moment I found out Jeremy had an affair with Olivia. I could still recall how heartbroken I was when I found out about it.

However, I managed to stay because I was pregnant with Marianne. Besides, I had nowhere else to go. Whether I liked it or not, the Black Ebony Pack had become my home even though the nobles never considered me as their Luna because I was an outsider. Instead, they were encouraging my husband to spend more time with Olivia, whom they considered as part of our pack.

There were countless nights that I spent weeping when Jeremy said that he would stay with his mistress. Every time I confronted him, the Alpha would get mad at me.

“You were fucking useless bitch! See? You’re nothing but a burden! Don’t you ever block me from meeting my one true love!” he shouted at me as he left me again for his mistress.

'How dare he! He preferred to stay with that bitch over his own child!' Lucia, my wolf, cursed my husband angrily.

In fact, my wolf got so mad that I shifted into my wolf form when I was giving birth to Marianne. No werewolves were supposed to shift into their wolf form when they were giving birth as it would harm the baby. I caused my poor Marianne to be a weak one. It was a very grave mistake that made me cry nights and nights because I was the cause of it.

As I held my beautiful daughter, whom I named after my grandmother, I cried while I gently whispered to her tiny ears, “I’m sorry, my baby. It was my fault for making you weak.”

After I gave birth to my weak daughter, Jeremy visited me even less. To him, I was nothing but a failure because I only gave birth to a daughter instead of a son who would be able to inherit the pack. While Olivia was being showered with attention non-stop from my husband, the man ignored me as if Marianne and I never existed.

However, Jeremy started to show attention to his daughter as the elders from his council pitied me and our daughter. It all happened when we were having a banquet with the elders, discussing about a possible alliance with the White Fangs Pack.

“I must go to Olivia. She misses me,” he said as he brushed me off coldly.

“You should go then if you want to risk losing an alliance with the White Fangs Pack,” I told him, speaking for the first time since I discovered his affairs with Olivia.

“How dare you talk back like that!” he shouted at me.

But he stopped before he could take things further as the elders watched him with their hawk eyes as if they were trying to warn him. Even though my husband was the Alpha, he still had to respect the elders who helped him bring the Black Ebony Pack to greater glory. So, the man eventually began controlling his behavior around me and paid more attention to Marianne.

It was the very one thing that I could take pride in. I was still the pack’s Luna even if it was on paper only. Olivia might own Jeremy’s heart, but she had no voice. Furthermore, I gave good advice that helped the pack to expand. Hence, the elders favored me slightly.

Frankly, I didn’t really care about the elders. They definitely just wanted to use my daughter as a pawn while pretending to be honorable. Still, I was thankful because the elders advised my estranged husband to create a political marriage for Marianne to save her. At the very least, they still cared enough about my daughter.

In the end, it didn’t matter. My dear Marianne still died. She would no longer come back into this world. At the end of the day, I still lost someone who helped me survive this cruel life.

My hatred toward Jeremy, Olivia, and those nobles became so intense that my wolf couldn’t stop howling. They were all monsters that would pay the price no matter what, especially Jeremy. I already made up my mind to one goal. I wanted that man to suffer as badly as me.

Jeremy didn’t deserve to live happily with his mistress just like that. In fact, he wasn’t even worthy of being called a father, much less of a husband. He was truly a monster. My desire to see him suffer in agony became stronger even more every minute. Even though severing a mate bond was known to be extremely painful, I wouldn’t mind going through it.

There was no love left for Jeremy. It was nothing but revenge. The Alpha and his mistress brought me to an endless misery. From then on, my time for revenge started.

“Just wait for your death, Jeremy, Olivia!” I muttered to the black sky.
