Luna's Return: Chasing His Betrayed Luna

When Alpha Blaze hosted a gathering for all allied packs, I found an excuse to avoid attending, citing my Luna duties. Despite his desire for my presence, I deliberately stayed away.

Pack members pressured me, hinting that Scarlett might take over as Luna if I buried myself at work.

Calm and composed, a voice uttered, “Don’t get the wrong idea. Everyone just wants to see you happy.”

At first, I thought it was another pack member, but then I realized it was Hunter, appearing out of nowhere.

Hunter urged me to attend the gathering to keep up appearances and mend things.

Left with no choice, I showed up in a red dress. To my surprise, Hunter was there too, escorting me to the front, right toward Alpha Blaze.

But my mood soured the moment I saw Scarlett join us.

"Avery, I was just dining here. Since we all know each other, you don’t mind if I join, do you?" Scarlett chimed in.

Fueled by anger, I didn’t respond or even crack a smile.

From the moment I stepped into the room, Hunter’s eyes were locked on me, his stare unsettling, as if warning me not to disrupt his much-anticipated guests.

"Avery doesn’t seem pleased to see me. Perhaps I should go," Scarlett said, edging closer to Alpha Blaze with a wounded look.

In response, Alpha Blaze flashed a reassuring smile at her and sent me a stern warning through the mind-link.

He pulled out a chair for her and was about to do the same for me when I walked away, choosing the seat farthest from them. To my surprise, Hunter sat beside me despite earlier informing me he’d be securing the border. Yet here he was.

Hunter had once revealed that my pack was invited because Alpha Blaze now saw us as allies, no longer enemies—a claim that felt off, considering they were once our fiercest rivals.

As Hunter mentioned, the Alpha of Black Shadow also arrived. Still, I kept my distance, not wanting Alpha Blaze to notice me.

What puzzled me was that I had never shared everything about myself with Hunter.

When I asked him who he was and how he knew more about my life than my mate, he simply replied, “I value your existence more than Alpha Blaze ever could. And as I’ve told you before, your bond with him isn’t destined by the Moon Goddess but by something else.”

That left me puzzled, but I tried to enjoy the gathering. Instead of standing by Alpha Blaze’s side, Scarlett was his companion, which sparked my fury.

I wanted everyone to know I was the Luna, not Scarlett. Despite my desire to avoid causing a scene, it became evident I couldn’t make the most of the evening.

Some guests even questioned who Alpha Blaze’s mate was. When Scarlett began to answer, I seized the moment and declared, “It’s me. I am the true Luna of this pack.”

Yet, Alpha Blaze had ordered Hunter to escort me from the gathering. At the same time, Scarlett threw a fit, blaming me for everything. Scarlett's arrogance was evident as she anticipated Alpha Blaze naming her the new Luna, reducing me to a mere commoner.

Not only did this unfold, but in the days that followed, Scarlett informed me that Alpha Blaze had given her the green light to assume all my Luna duties.

Despite my reluctance, I had to step aside. Scarlett was insistent, claiming she merely wanted to be close to the pack.

Even so, I continued with my duties, clearing up the confusion that surrounded everyone. “I am still Alpha Blaze’s mate and the official Luna. Until there’s an official title transition, Scarlett has no right to claim it.”

This cleared up any misunderstandings. Noting Scarlett’s eagerness, I added, “I never thought Alpha Blaze would be so disrespectful as to appoint someone else as Luna while I’m still here doing the job.”

Alpha Blaze never confirmed the claim or addressed it with Scarlett.

However, Scarlett insisted that Alpha Blaze had mentioned it, though he refused to acknowledge it.

“Scarlett, no matter what happens, Avery will always be my mate,” Alpha Blaze insisted.

While this brought some clarity, I seized the moment to address the issue directly.

“Perhaps it’s time for us to end our bond and for you to choose Scarlett as your new Luna,” I said.
