Chapter 2

I stood at the entrance of the pack meeting hall, my body still aching from childbirth. Three weeks had passed since Dylan's birth, three weeks of healing and rage and planning. Aria stirred within me, stronger each day as we both adjusted to our new reality—a reality without Sullivan's presence in our bond.

"Are you ready for this?" Marcus asked quietly beside me.

I nodded, straightening my shoulders. "I've been ready since the moment he chose her over us."

The double doors swung open, and conversation inside died instantly. Every eye turned to me—some sympathetic, others calculating, a few hostile. I walked with measured steps toward the front of the room, where the Alpha and Luna chairs sat on a raised platform.

My steps faltered.

Yasmin sat in my chair—the Luna chair carved with my family's symbols, the chair I'd occupied for eight years. She wore my ceremonial robes, the deep blue fabric that Sullivan had commissioned for me on our fifth anniversary. The silver embroidery caught the light as she lounged there, a satisfied smile playing on her lips.

"London," Sullivan acknowledged me with cold formality. "You should have informed me you'd be attending today."

"I don't need your permission to attend a pack meeting," I replied, my voice steady despite the fury building inside me.

Aria growled. *Look at her. Wearing our symbols like she earned them.*

Yasmin's smile widened as she leaned closer to Sullivan. Her hand rested possessively on his arm, her fingers adorned with rings that had once been mine.

"Pack members," Sullivan announced, standing to address the room. "Today marks a new chapter for Moonrise Pack. As you all know, London and I have... separated. In her place, I present Yasmin, my chosen mate and your new Luna."

Murmurs rippled through the crowd. I felt Marcus tense beside me.

"By pack law," I said clearly, rising to my feet, "no rogue may assume leadership position without proper trials and acceptance ceremonies. Yasmin has undergone none of these."

Sullivan's jaw tightened. "I am Alpha. I decide who stands beside me."

"You are Alpha," I agreed, "but even Alphas must abide by pack law. Or have you forgotten the oath you took?"

---

"The evidence is mounting," Marcus said, spreading documents across my kitchen table. Dylan slept peacefully in his bassinet nearby, his tiny chest rising and falling steadily.

I picked up a photograph—Sullivan and Yasmin entering our pack's sacred grounds without the proper escort. Another showed them in my private gardens, where only Luna family members were permitted.

"He's not even trying to hide it," I murmured.

"Because he doesn't think you can challenge him," Marcus replied grimly. "But we've found seventeen violations of pack law already. Abandoning his mate during childbirth, elevating an unvetted rogue to Luna status, misappropriating pack resources..."

I traced my finger over Dylan's sleeping form. My son's wolf seemed unusually strong despite being born prematurely. Sometimes at night, I swore I could see his eyes glowing with an inner light that seemed too intelligent for a newborn.

"He'll need to be strong," I whispered.

Marcus nodded solemnly. "We're with you, London. Many of us. The pack remembers who built Moonrise from nothing."

---

Dylan's naming ceremony should have been a joyous occasion. Instead, it became a battlefield.

I stood before the gathered pack members, my son cradled in my arms. Elder Elena Blackwood waited to perform the ritual, her ancient eyes watchful.

"Dylan Greene," I announced, using my surname deliberately. "Son of London Greene, heir to the Greene lineage."

The doors burst open. Sullivan strode in with Yasmin on his arm. She wore my ancestral Luna crown—a delicate silver circlet embedded with moonstones that had been passed down through generations of Greene women.

A collective gasp rose from the assembled pack members.

"By what right does she wear that crown?" Elena demanded, her voice carrying surprising strength for her age.

Yasmin's smile turned sharp. "By right of my position as Luna of Moonrise Pack."

"You have no position here," Elena countered. "You have not been properly accepted or initiated."

Yasmin's eyes flashed dangerously. "Old woman, be careful. Your age may protect you from some things, but not from all."

The threat hung in the air, clear and unmistakable. Several pack members shifted uncomfortably, suddenly seeing beneath Yasmin's polished exterior to the violence simmering beneath.

I stepped forward, Dylan secure in my arms. "I believe it's time for the naming ritual to continue," I said calmly.

As Elena began the ceremony, I felt Sullivan's gaze burning into me. But I didn't look his way—not once. My focus remained on my son, on our future, on the pack members who still looked to me for leadership.

And somewhere deep inside, I felt Aria stirring with renewed purpose. *This isn't over,* she promised. *It's just beginning.*
