Landon instantly let go of his hand and put the phone against my ear, slamming it down on the hospital bed.

Evelyn was closest to Landon, and of course she heard the voice on the phone.

She hurriedly dragged Landon over to sign me up for surgery.

"He clearly said I was his first girlfriend and that I was the only one he ever loved!"

I was defeated by her innocence.

Perhaps Landon was telling the truth, and he just stayed with me before because he had no better choice.

We were more like family to each other than lovers.

I closed my eyes weakly.

"Haven't you seen Karen's belongings? There should be something else at the bottom, and now you have my permission to see it."

Then, she stumbled out of the hospital room.

As she opened the door, she almost ran into Landon, who had just returned.

Landon finally stopped being so lost the moment he saw Evelyn.

But all Evelyn responded to him this time was her hasty departure.

Landon noticed something was wrong, and he angrily entered the door to ask me, slamming the papers he was holding that he had signed from the funeral parlor on me.

"Julie, why did you lie to me? Why did you hide the news of Karen's death from me? I'm Karen's only family, but who are you to hide it from me?"
