Chapter 4

Leo drove very fast and ran several red lights as if he were afraid that Ivy would kneel for one more second.

It took him only fifteen minutes to cover the ride of twenty minutes.

Ivy faced the closed door and knelt on the ground, holding her belly.

"Nina, it's been seven days. Please come out."

"It's all my fault. I made you quarrel with Leo. As long as you come out, I can go abroad immediately."

Ivy sobbed, looking fragile in her white dress.

Sure enough, as soon as Leo got out of the car, he took off his suit jacket and wrapped her shoulders tenderly, pulling her in his arms.

"Ivy, it's not your fault. If she wants to pretend, just let her. It's best if she stays in there forever and doesn't come out."

Ivy leaned in Leo's arms, looking pitiful.

"Leo, don't say words you don't mean to. Nina is pregnant. If anything bad happens to her, I will kill myself."

Leo sneered.

"She will be the last to die in the world. Since she's pregnant with the bastard, she will take good care of herself."

Yes, I loved my children very much.

When the murderer cut off one of my hands, I begged him for mercy and asked him to spare my baby.

Unfortunately, he didn't listen to me.

Leo stood in front of the door and said menacingly on the loudspeaker, "Nina, I'll give you ten seconds to come out. If you don't, I'll have this building pulled off, and you can't come out forever."

Leo put down the loudspeaker and hugged Ivy with full confidence, waiting for me to appear.

The building was quiet against their will.

Leo rubbed his fingers and picked up the loudspeaker again.

"Nina, there's no point in being stubborn with me now. I'll give you another ten seconds. If you don't come out, I'll really make you miserable."

Same as before, there was no response.

I stared at Leo coldly. He started to pant heavily and rub his fingers more violently.

In the end, he looked at Ivy.

"Wait for me at the door. I'll go in and take her out. She will apologize to you."

Ivy pretended to be worried and grabbed his hand.

"I'll go with you. If Nina is angry with me, she can hit me to vent her anger."

Ivy insisted, and Leo had no choice but to arrange five bodyguards to circle around her, for fear that she would get hurt.

The building was cluttered with nails and wooden boards, and the spiral staircase had no railings. There was danger everywhere.

Leo warned Ivy from time to time and even squatted down to carry Ivy on his back.

As I followed them along the way, my memory of that night became clearer and clearer.

The murderer attacked me ruthlessly, and there was a trail of blood all along the way.

When they saw the bloodstains, everyone turned pale, and Ivy screamed.

Leo hugged her tightly in his arms and comforted her.

"Ivy, don't be afraid. A murder happened here before. The bloodstains must have been left here at that time. Don't be afraid."

They walked slowly and soon arrived at the place where the murderer killed me.

The abandoned bathtub was full of blood, and the blood and flesh on the ground had attracted countless flies.

It was like a huge slaughterhouse.

Ivy vomited on the spot, and Leo was not much better, his face turning livid.

It pained me to see the scene.

I didn't even die decently.

Leo pinched his nose and kicked the bathtub sulkily.

"What a jinx. This building cost me over one billion dollars. Why did this have to happen here?"

His kick was fierce, and the shaky bathtub toppled under the force. The bloody water splashed in all directions with a stench.

The missing body parts in the bathtub were revealed.

Everyone vomited, including Leo.

He asked his assistant to call the police. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly looked at the body parts on the ground. Leo somehow picked up a very thin bone with a stick on the ground.

A hint of pity flashed across his stern face.

He said, "The victim was pregnant, and the fetus was estimated to be five months old.

"It was taken out alive... The victim was soaked in cold water at the time. It is very likely that she saw all this with her own eyes..."

Even such a cold-blooded man as Leo was not able to finish his words.

Yes, when the baby was taken out, it twitched.

But it was a fleeting moment.

The baby that Leo and I had been praying for six years was dead.

I wanted to touch the baby, but I couldn't as I was only a soul.

I still remembered my heart raced and my mind went blank when I received the pregnancy report.

Then came the great joy.

Countless thoughts flashed across my mind. What should I name the baby? Was it a boy or a girl? What should I say when I meet my baby in nine months?

But everything was destroyed in the deserted construction site.

Leo was professional and guessed it correctly.

"A five-month-old fetus..."

He repeated in a trembling voice and staggered back a few steps.

Leo was almost certain that the victim was me.

"Nina... Come out. How could someone as vicious and cunning as you die so easily? Look for Nina."

He roared and almost broke his voice.

I laughed so hard that my tears fell.

How to find me?

My body was in the police station now. Didn't he see that?

He pieced me up.

The assistant shook like a leave in the wind and held his cell phone.

"Mr. Holt... Mr. Holt, the police station sent a message and said that the DNA comparison results of the body have come out."

"It's Ms. Brooks..."
