Love Returns to the Sea
Chapter 3
"If you truly loved Nancy, why did you accept my pursuit in the first place? You could have refused me outright! Now that you've taken everything from the Wilson family, you're tormenting me here. Is this your idea of grace, Sebastian?"
"The most disgusting one is you, the two-faced one is you, and you are the root of all this evil!" I shouted.
The chaos in Sebastian's eyes dissipated, and he became hesitant to speak.
Seeing my intense struggle, he released me.
He turned his head and saw the suitcase, immediately furrowing his brow again.
"You're leaving? Where to? I can't satisfy you, so you have to go out and look for another man?" he said.
He started to mock me as usual, but when he met my indifferent eyes, Sebastian suddenly fell silent.
I let out a scoff, no longer afraid of him, and poured out many things that had been on my mind.
"You always think that Nancy had the accident because she was too heartbroken, but a little investigation would reveal that she got into the accident on her way to a hotel with her boyfriend. You're just being self-indulgent in your feelings."
"Shut your fucking mouth!" Sebastian, in a fit of rage, slapped me with all his strength.
I suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, staining the sheets red.
Looking at this man in front of me, who only knows how to escape and is hypocritical and selfish, I suddenly laughed.
I laughed at myself for being deceived by his appearance, harming so many people and ruining my own beautiful life.
Sebastian hastily stood up and turned to leave.
He suddenly turned back and threw a can of candies on the ground.
"It's for her." After saying that, he turned and left.
He wasn't even willing to mention Dora's name, nor acknowledge her existence.
At this moment, Dora was woken up. Although she didn't know what had happened, she kicked the can of candies away and said fiercely, "I don't want this gift, I don't want Dad! I hate him, I hate everyone who hurt Mom!"
I quickly wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth and carried her back to the room.
A five-year-old child wanted to protect me.
Looking at the suitcase, I felt as if my heart had turned to ashes.
This world was too cruel to us.
I wonder, if Dora and I were to completely disappear, would Sebastian feel even a hint of sorrow?
Sebastian rarely came home to begin with.
After that conflict, he directly never came back home.
My living expenses were all given to me by his butler, and he never worried that I would run away.
Because he knows that a blind person without money can't survive.
I carried Dora out the door and took her to say her final goodbyes to the teachers and classmates at the kindergarten.
Seeing her conflicted expression, I sighed.
Children all love their fathers, and she must be in agony inside.
If possible, I hope Sebastian could see Dora one last time and leave her with a final good impression.
After thinking for a moment, I pulled out my phone and called Sebastian.
"Dora misses you. Do you have time to see her today?" I said.
To my surprise, Sebastian was unusually patient and not at all annoyed.
"I'm in the hospital today and can spare some time later in the evening..." he said.
Suddenly, on the other end of the call, a woman with a hoarse voice said, "Sebastian, if you're busy, go back first. I can handle the check-up by myself."
It was Nancy! She was awake!
Instantly, Sebastian's voice became flustered.
"How could I possibly let you go for the check-up alone when your matters are of utmost importance to me? "There's nothing going on at home. She's just an insignificant person, no need to worry. Nancy, lie down now! I'll feed you."
As he continued speaking, Sebastian's voice grew increasingly distant, as if he had forgotten to hang up the phone.
This gentle and considerate voice was just like his when he was twenty, patiently talking to me from up in the tree.
He said to me at the time, "The kitten needs to be rescued quickly."
When we first met, I was captivated by his gentleness.
And now, such tenderness, he immediately gave to someone else, never to be bestowed upon me again.
Nancy recovered.
The person he truly loves has returned, and there's no need for me to exist by his side anymore.
I hung up the phone with a bitter smile, wiping away my tears.
Finally, I smashed the phone fiercely, held Dora in my arms, got into the car, and resolutely headed to the edge of the cliff.
I kissed her forehead and apologized softly.
I gave birth to her, but I never let her have a single good day.
But it was okay now. As long as we jumped, everything would be over.
After getting out of the car, I took off my shoes.
Dora in my arms was given a sleeping pill and is sleeping soundly.
I walked step by step to the edge of the cliff, looked into the endless abyss, and closed my eyes.
Sebastian, I give you your freedom.
Today, I would say goodbye to my screwed life.
