Love is Like Strong Wine, Sealing the Throat
Chapter 4
I thought that John had a prominent background, but I didn't expect that I was short-sighted.
I didn't want to get involved in power struggles, and I couldn't be bothered to deal with these two-faced people.
I just followed John around.
John led me over and greeted the man familiarly.
"Brother."
"Simon."
The first line was directed at Zick, and the second at Simon.
I was curious about the people John could honor so I looked at the man.
A pair of dark and cold eyes came into view.
His eyes swept over me and turned to John, who was next to me.
There was a suffocating pressure.
John also noticed that something was wrong.
"What's wrong?"
Zick glanced at the people around and changed the topic.
"Who is this?"
Everyone's eyes were focused on me.
John introduced, "She is my girlfriend, Yuki White."
With a bang, the glass fell on the coffee table.
The person in the middle was calm and composed as if the loud noise was not caused by him.
John also cast a surprised look.
Simon stood up and his gaze inadvertently swept over me.
Without saying anything, he turned around and left.
Everyone was silent. No one knew how they had offended him.
No one dared to speak. In the end, it was Zick who spoke up and allowed the gathering to continue.
The first impression Simon gave me was that he was a moody man.
And now, I was in the same room with him.
The heating in the room was on, but I felt cold.
I crossed my arms and nodded at him.
"Mr. Huss."
A dark glint flashed in Simon's eyes.
"Come here."
Before I could react, my body had already moved forward.
I was annoyed at myself for being so obedient. While I was in a trance, the back of my foot rubbed against the corner of the sofa and a red mark appeared.
Simon lowered his eyes and wore a faint smile.
"Why are you so delicate?"
The familiar words reminded me of something.
It turned out that he was the one who said what I heard in a coma.
He was the one who saved me yesterday.
No one had ever said that I was delicate. Simon was the first.
But I didn't do anything.
I sat down on the sofa one meter away from him.
After thinking for a long time, I finally spoke.
"Mr. Huss, thank you for saving me yesterday."
"You're so busy every day and I don’t want to disturb you anymore. I'll go back first. I'll thank you when you're free."
The meaning behind my words was obvious.
Simon knocked on his knees with his hand.
"Do you need me to help you contact John?"
When I heard the name, my face darkened, and even my attitude changed.
"No, we've already broken up."
Unlike what I had imagined, the corners of Simon's lips were turned up slightly.
At the same time, the doorbell rang.
Simon got up and threw the coat on the sofa at me. After he saw that I had put it on, he opened the door.
The person who came in was my assistant, who was carrying a bag.
Obviously, she knew who opened the door, so she didn't dare to raise her head and carefully approached me.
"Yuki, these are your clothes."
After changing my clothes, I took away my assistant, who was squatting at the door like a quail.
The moment I closed the door, I subconsciously glanced at the man on the sofa.
Life went on as usual. The breakup and rescue that day seemed to have never happened.
