Chapter 2

The first time when I met Caleb, it was just a coincidence.

It was April Fool's Day. The early admission exam for high schools had ended. I came out for relax. Unexpectedly, I heard someone arguing.

"We can't be together. Actually... we are siblings!"

"It doesn't matter, my dear. For you, I don't care what others think of me!"

I was shocked by such an astounding conversation. Then I stopped and planned to eavesdrop.

Then the topic suddenly changed, and they laughed.

"Well, you've had enough, Caleb. Every April Fool's Day, you either try to deceive me or play tricks on me to embarrass me. Luckily, you put so much effort into this useless thing. How did your college entrance examination go? I think it's hanging by a thread with your poor attitude towards studying."

"Put your mind at ease. Even if I didn't do well on the exam, I will continue to be in the same class as you in high school!"

I was amused by their jokes. It was obvious that they were good friends. Everything they did was just childish pranks on April Fool's Day.

The girl seemed outgoing and confident.

It was Clara. Her family background was very ordinary. Forgive me for always judging someone based on their family background. But I envied Clara. Although she was poor compared to me and Caleb, she never cared about how others thought of her.

She was confident in herself, and she should be. She had good grades and looked stunning. She, who always showed her best side to others, was carefree and righteous. Many people were willing to befriend her.

And I was the opposite of her. I was from a family engaged in the business world for several generations. My family had extensive business operations both domestically and internationally.

Due to the lack of parental love since childhood, I was sensitive and unwilling to reveal my true self to others.

I was a bit wishy-washy about everything. Some people tried to flatter me after knowing my background. Few people wanted to treat me sincerely.

Caleb was no exception.

"We have known each other for a long time. Our marriage is just for the needs of our families. Since neither of us is interested in each other, there is no need to force it. As long as you don't lead to any messy situations, I won't mistreat you."

Caleb advised me so on the night of our wedding.

After the casual prank, Caleb handed flowers to Clara. Looking disdainful, Clara said, "Caleb! Are you an idiot? We're going to the movies later. Do you expect me to hold them in my hands the whole time?"

Caleb reluctantly smiled and said, "Alright, alright. Miss, calm down. I forgot."

Clara was not a spoiled lady, but Caleb was willing to treat her like one.

Caleb didn't say much. After casually throwing the bright red roses into the nearby trash can, he happily walked towards the elevator with Clara.

Out of curiosity, I approached the trash can and picked up the flowers to examine them.

The flowers were from ROSEONLY. He used them as a joke prop. At that time, I only thought that his family should be wealthy. Then a card slipped out from it.

On top of it, it read, "Keep it in your heart, and never forget it."
