When the SAT was over, Colin looked at me with a burning gaze and said, “Gloria, shall we run away?”
I shrugged and smiled, “Run away? Where to?”
My whole life had been a mess.
My father had planned my life for me. After graduating from high school, I would work in a factory and then get married to make money for him.
He wouldn’t help me pay a penny of tuition.
The tuition for my high school was all raised by people in my village.
Colin had also helped my family repay the debt, and I had to repay.
My father was a time bomb, which might affect me at any time.
I gave up on myself long ago. Choosing to study was just to make Colin a little happier.
His family’s plan for him was to study abroad.
His future should not have me.
But Colin convinced me. I was young and impulsive, so I chose him regardless.
In the end, he applied to a domestic university.
He didn’t follow the family’s arrangement and lost his source of income.
At that time, we lived a very poor but also very happy life in a rented house.
After part-time work every day, we would play around in the rented small room.
We have quarreled and fought, but we only have each other in our eyes.
If time could freeze at that moment, it would be great.
But I knew it was impossible. Since he helped my family repay the debt, we were destined to be unequal.
