Chapter 3

At the beginning of the new year, the bell struck twelve.

Beatrice raised her hand and turned off the TV.

She knew that Harold would bring Viola home for New Year’s Eve dinner tonight.

For the rest of his life, Viola would be the only one by his side.

The wind was a little cool at night.

Beatrice’s face was covered with snot and tears. She had just finished the IV drip and was sniffing her nose when she heard the gossipy screams of the young nurse outside the door.

“He is the one who is in charge of the Dolton Family, right? That man is so gentle and handsome! His girlfriend is the real winner. She was so nervous after just a minor scratch. If I were his girlfriend, I would definitely faint from happiness!”

Beatrice followed the nurse’s gaze.

Harold took off his coat and put it on Viola, then frowned, as if dissatisfied, bent down slightly and walked toward this side with the whole person in his arms.

When their eyes met, Beatrice’s heart still skipped a beat.

She was a little nervous and was about to explain.

But Harold just paused, frowned and passed by as if he didn’t see her.

Beatrice laughed at herself and finally lowered her head again after raising it, holding onto the wall and preparing to walk out.

The huge corridor became silent due to Harold’s appearance.

Her feet were rubbed by her high heels and with every step she took, the corridor echoed with a “click click” sound, which was particularly harsh.

Suddenly Harold stopped, his eyes full of impatience and after looking her up and down, she spoke suddenly. “You’re following me?”

Before Beatrice could react to what he meant, he said the second sentence, “If Sunset Villa has been arranged, you should move in as soon as possible. After all, it’s not convenient now.”

What an inconvenience! Beatrice’s heart trembled. She didn’t want to listen, so she just limped forward.

But when her show of weakness angered Harold, his brows furrowed again.

“It’s really annoying to change the shoes that don’t fit.”

A double entendre.

Beatrice’s face turned as pale as paper in an instant. She knew that Harold was warning her.

She also understood that she would be kicked out of the house sooner or later and she had to make room for her future sister-in-law.

She just didn’t expect it to happen so soon.

She endured the discomfort in her feet, turned around with difficulty and nodded obediently.

“Brother, don’t worry. I will move out as soon as possible. And the shoes that don’t fit... I’ll get rid of them too.”

In the dim corridor, Beatrice shuddered violently, noticed an unfriendly gaze coming from Viola and then lowered her head silently.

She was afraid that her future sister-in-law would misunderstand her, so she still wanted to muster up the courage to tell her that she would never be a stumbling block to Harold’s happiness. She wanted him to be happy, but this happiness had nothing to do with her.

She would leave tactfully, but she didn’t want Harold to misunderstand her.

“Brother, I didn’t follow you. I came here because…”

But her obedience did not satisfy Harold. The only response she got was a cold back and a ruthless voice. “Whatever you want.”

Although Sunset Villa was the most luxurious villa area in Linkon. It was located in a remote suburb, far enough away from him and most importantly, far enough away from his wedding room.

It was charity in appearance, but in reality it was exile.

She didn’t understand how their relationship had come to this point.

He had loved her so much in the past, but now that she showed up in the hospital for no reason, he didn’t even ask a single question.

Beatrice wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes fiercely.

Sometimes she hated herself for being so weak and always crying over such trivial matters.

“But everything is back to square one. I am not allowed to cry!”
