Chapter 2

The coroner did a DNA test, which still required an expedited day.

The police had compiled all the files from the case three years ago.

The method was extremely similar to this dismemberment case, but the killer had already been brought to justice and even executed. It was impossible for him to come back to life and kill again.

Luke still had no more clues.

He had investigated the case three years ago and had been the one to catch the killer.

This time, the same method was clearly targeting him.

"Luke, all parts except the head have been found."

Wyatt's face looked a bit pale, clearly having just vomited.

"Damn it, who could be so cruel to a pregnant woman!

"Is her family dead? Why hasn't anyone noticed she was missing for so long?"

He complained vehemently, hanging photos on the whiteboard.

Luke looked at the photos again and again, suddenly stopping at the scar on the arm.

My heart skipped a beat, praying he could remember what it was.

"What other physical characteristics does the victim have?" He pointed to the scar and asked Wyatt, "Was she abused?"

"Her family hasn't contacted us for so long, we can't rule out an acquaintance as the perpetrator."

"Check for recent domestic violence reports with these obvious tear marks."

Luke frowned, analyzing all possibilities, except he didn't realize it was the scar left by his wife desperately holding onto their daughter.

I became calm again; of course he didn't know what that scar was.

Since our daughter's death, he had never cared about me again.

Wyatt checked the recent reports and found nothing.

Luke had to analyze again from another direction. He circled the locations where the body parts were found, analyzing the killer's intent.

Suddenly, he seemed to think of something, his face turned pale, and he looked at Wyatt.

"Wyatt, do these addresses point to one place?"

Wyatt stared at the map, his voice trembling as he asked, "Luke, how long has it been since you last contacted your wife?

"How long has your wife been pregnant? Is it..."

Luke thought for a moment, realizing he didn't know how long I had been pregnant.

I found out I was pregnant at our daughter's funeral, but by then he already hated me deeply and didn't know how long I had been pregnant.

He shook his head in denial and said, "Same trick.

"Using the child to trick me?

"Last time, it cost our daughter, what do you want this time?

"Wyatt, you should call her later."

Huh, he didn't even want to give me a call, but he thought of Nora immediately.

Thinking about how he just called Nora with a gentle reminder, I felt so sad I wanted to vomit.

"Luke, do you know that you missed the truth again?"

"Luke, I can't reach her," Wyatt immediately made a call and hesitantly asked, "How about you go home and have a look?

"Even if you don't want to see her, you'll feel relieved when you see her.

"Just do it for the case? After all, all clues point to your neighborhood."

Luke wasn't a good husband, but he always cared about his work.

He didn't hesitate any longer, put on his coat, and drove home.

I followed him, urging him constantly, "Hurry! Faster!"

Only 4 hours left...
