Lost Beyond Life and Death

“I don't mind. I'm very happy that you can think of me when you need me.”

I closed my eyes. I no longer cared where they were going or what they were going to do.

I never had known that Sean was so infatuated, so it was better to not see it with my own eyes. 

I had completely given up.

The time Sean came back, it was already the next morning. He saw that I had only made breakfast for one person and smiled guiltily.

“Scarlett, I'm sorry. I finished my work at the company in the early morning last night. I did not want to wake you up when I came back, so I stayed at the company for the night.”

My face remained calm as I muttered, “It's okay.”

Suddenly a push notification popped up on the phone.

I accidentally clicked on it and it turned out to be photos taken by paparazzi last night.

[Surprise! The president of Bright Entertainment went into Marissa’s private villa last night and did not come out until dawn.]

When I saw it, Sean was also staring at his phone and frowning.

“Tell them to delete it immediately,” He whispered to his assistant and sure enough, five minutes later, all the marketing accounts were deleted and the push message seemed to have never appeared.

I smiled bitterly and stood up. Sean looked at me warily.

“Scarlett, where are you going?”

I almost forgot that that day was the day for the audition for the female lead in ‘The Lost Time.’

Since Marissa had already been chosen, the so-called audition was just a formality.

He was probably afraid that I would suddenly change my mind and compete with Marissa for the role.

I said calmly, “I've been bored at home for too long, I'm going out to buy a cake.”

Sean smiled and wanted to follow, “I'll take you there.”

“No.”​ I looked up at him and said, “There's an audition today, aren't you going to take a look?”

As expected, I guessed Sean's thoughts correctly, so he did not need to make any excuses anymore and even his steps became lighter when he left.

I withdrew my gaze, printed out my resume and changed into something more formal.

Then, I took a taxi to another crew.

“Your name is Scarlett?” The staff member looked up at me in confusion and said, “If I remember correctly, your husband runs an entertainment company and has a lot of resources.”

He looked at me with his arms crossed, his tone somewhat sarcastic. “I heard that your husband's new play is auditioning today. Wouldn't it be easy for you to get the leading female role? Why did you come to our small crew to audition for a supporting role?”

I could not help but smile bitterly.

I used to think so too.

I had seen many posts more than once and many netizens said, “Scarlett is such a good actor and has good looks, how can she not be popular?”

“That's right, Marissa's acting is so embarrassing, how can she become a movie queen like this?”

But after more than ten minutes, those comments questioning Marissa quickly disappeared.

Even those who praised my acting skills were overwhelmed by countless internet trolls and zombie posts praising Marissa’s beauty.

Even if I was dumb, I still could see that.

In the past two years, Sean had devoted all his resources to cultivating Tyler and Marissa as a couple.

I originally thought it was because of their old friendship as college classmates.

But then that I knew Sean's thoughts, what else was there that I did not understand?

His heart was landing only on Marissa and his world was only rotating toward Marissa. That was why, everything he did was to pave the way for Marissa.

“Those are all news hype. I don't know Sean and he is not my husband,” I said calmly.

I had already signed the divorce agreement, so it was not a lie.

“And I want to bring this character to life with my acting skills.”

The staff looked at me for a long time and finally put a cross on my name.
