Lost Beyond Life and Death

 The popular movie star, Tyler Cane and I had been in a long-term relationship for five years. On the wedding day, he broke off the engagement with me in public while holding hands with another girl.

The guests at the scene were pointing and talking and I begged him to save my face.

But Tyler coldly pushed me away and sneered, “If you hadn't been so shameless as to cling to me, I would have married Marissa a long time ago and why would I have wasted all these years with you?”

I was pushed down by him in a mess, but fell steadily into a warm embrace.

It was my boss, Sean Jordan, who took great care of me. He knelt down on one knee and proposed to me, “Scarlett, give me a chance to love you.”

I agreed out of spite and Sean really gave me a grand wedding. He loved and cared for me after marriage and everyone praised me for having a blessing in disguise.

But three years later, after I bought my wedding anniversary gift and logged out of my tablet, I accidentally saw the chat history between him and his assistant.

“Mr. Jordan, since you loved Marissa so much and made her a famous actress, why didn't you just marry her instead of giving her away?”

“Marissa likes Tyler, so I married Scarlett to make her happy. As long as she can be happy, let alone become a movie queen, I will help her clear all stumbling blocks.”

I felt like I was falling into an icy cave.

Only then did I realize that all the love and affection they had shown in the three years of marriage was just an act.

Since he loved Marissa so deeply, I would step aside and help him.

My phone ran out of battery, so I remembered to use the tablet at home to choose gifts.

But I saw things I should not have seen.

Sean always spoke briefly and to the point when chatting and rarely sent long paragraphs, but every word in the chat record between him and his assistant was sincere.

“Scarlett, you smell so good,” he said, “I've been busy all day, let me hug you.”

I numbly felt the tenderness and dependence of the person behind me, felling a dull pain in my chest.

In the three years since we got married, everyone who knew me said that Sean and I were a perfect match.

He used to like smoking, but he quit smoking for me just because I frowned.

Then, my dream was to become an actor. So, Sean mobilized all the resources in his hands to support me. 

Even when obsessive fans launched personal attacks on me, he protected me behind him without hesitation.

“Please stay rational. I will always support my wife.”

Even though I had been acting for three years and was still in an unknown supporting role, Sean was very doting on me in front of the reporters.
