Like Taking Care of Others? I'll Grant Your Wish! Chapter 1
David Wilson and I had been married for five years. We respected each other and never argued.
Our relatives and friends all envied us, and our parents were proud of it.
But no one knew that after all those years of marriage, David had never slept in the same bed with me.
He had always been deeply in love with his ex-girlfriend Ella Jones, and I was just a substitute.
Marrying me was just to give an explanation to our parents.
After living my life over again, I decided not to let myself be wronged anymore.
...
As soon as I opened my eyes after my rebirth, I saw David's impatient expression.
"Mandy Moore, get off the car. Did you hear me?"
When I saw the highway outside the car window, I remembered that I was returning to his parents' home with David.
Just like in my previous life, after David received a call from Ella on the way, he immediately threw me into the emergency lane and told me to find a way to get a taxi by myself.
That was on the highway, and where could I get a taxi?
But David didn't care about that, because in his mind, Ella was the most important.
Then I walked several miles before getting off the highway...
"Watch your mouth when you get to my parents' house. Just tell them that I was back to the company for a meeting and will be there later. Do you understand?"
I gently smoothed my hair and said calmly, "Can't you explain to them yourself that you are going to the hospital to take care of your ex-girlfriend?"
David frowned.
"Mandy, what do you mean?
"Ella is waiting for me in the hospital. You know how serious her condition is and how much she needs care!
"We've been married for so many years, and it isn't the first time this has happened. Why are you throwing a tantrum at me now?"
I said coldly, "Because I'm tired of this kind of life. David, let's get a divorce."
David was stunned, as if he couldn't believe his ears.
"Mandy, what did you say? You want to divorce me?"
"Yes, compared to me, Ella needs your care more. After the divorce, you don't have to hide it and you can accompany her openly."
After saying that, I unbuckled my seat belt, got out of the car, and slammed the door.
After being stunned for a few seconds, he stepped on the accelerator and sped away.
...
David and Ella were college classmates. They had originally agreed that after graduation, they would find jobs together in the same city and then get married.
However, for unknown reasons, Ella suddenly went abroad during her senior year and had not been heard from since.
After waiting for two years, the disheartened David met me. Perhaps because he saw Ella in me, we got married.
Unexpectedly, on the wedding night, after David received a phone call, he immediately became excited and started to change his clothes.
I asked him what was wrong. He said that something happened to a friend of his, a very important friend, and he had to go see her.
I was naive at the time and asked if he wanted me to go with him.
David said no and that he alone was enough.
He was gone for a whole night, and when he came back the next morning, he told me that the friend had uremia and was hospitalized for dialysis the night before.
David was exhausted. His eyes were full of worry, sympathy and an indescribable emotion.
Silly me, I didn't realize that the emotion was love.
From then on, he went to the hospital to take care of the friend every few days and often did not return home all night.
