My Childfree Husband Got His Ex Pregnant,So I Left With His Heirs Chapter 1

Ten years of a childless marriage—and then I found the prenatal exam receipt.

It was tucked in my husband's coat pocket. The patient's name: Lila Monroe.

I dug deeper. Quietly. Methodically. And the truth hit me like a blade to the chest.

The baby was his.

I confronted him, my voice shaking with rage. "Why? Why?"

Graham Sanchez didn't even flinch. His tone was flat, almost bored.

"Lila wanted a child. I was just... doing her a favor. For old times' sake."

For old times' sake.

I stared at him through burning tears, and what followed was the ugliest fight of our marriage.

But the people around us—friends, relatives, elders—they all took his side.

"Why make such a scene, Cecilia Harding? Graham's finally willing to have a child. The Sanchez Group needs an heir. This could be good for you too—something to secure your position."

"He's thirty-five, and he's never wanted kids. If Lila can give the Sanchez family a future, you should be gracious enough to accept her."

Gracious.

I looked at Graham—at that cold, impassive face I'd spent a decade trying to thaw.

Ten years. And I'd never been the one to melt him.

"Fine," I said, my voice hollow. "I'll accept the child. But you have to cut all ties with Lila Monroe. That's my only condition."

Graham slid the wedding band off his finger and set it on the coffee table with a soft clink.

"Lila's pregnancy isn't easy. I'm not going to abandon her."

His eyes met mine. No guilt. No remorse. Nothing.

"If you keep making a fuss, I'll move out. Come find me when you've calmed down."

My nails bit into my palms until I felt the sting.

There was no going back. I knew that now.

"Then let's get a divorce."

——

The room went dead silent.

Even Graham froze, his hand still on the door handle.

For a moment, something flickered across his face—surprise, maybe. Then irritation.

"Cecilia... don't be ridiculous."

I stood. Pulled off my wedding ring. And dropped it into the trash.

"I'm not being ridiculous, Graham. I want a divorce."

His expression darkened. "After everything we've been through, you've always understood me. Why is this time any different?"

"Lila wanted a healthy baby. She came to me, crying, begging—she looked so pitiful. I never betrayed you. Even now, this is just... responsibility."

He said it so casually. Like it was nothing.

But every word landed like a hammer blow to my chest.

So that's all it took. A few tears. A little begging. And he gave her what I never got.

What about me? What about ten years of whispers and sneers? Ten years of being called barren, worthless, a placeholder wife?

Was that just... my fault?

Ten years ago, I married Graham Sanchez to save my grandmother's life.

He was paralyzed from the waist down back then. And he looked at me with nothing but cold contempt.

"Marrying a cripple for money," he'd said. "How desperate."

But I didn't care what he thought of me. Because when my grandmother was dying, when no one else would help—he did. A man that callous wouldn't have done that if he were truly heartless.

After the wedding, he told me he never wanted children. He'd seen too much pain, too much betrayal. All he wanted was a quiet life.

I respected that. I devoted myself to him—his meals, his health, his every need. I thought if I loved him long enough, hard enough, he'd eventually open up.

I taught myself acupuncture. I went with him to the United States for surgery. Every single day, I massaged his legs, worked the needles, refused to give up.

Five years. I poured five years of my life into Chinese medicine, all to heal him. To undo whatever had broken inside him.

By the sixth year, my finger joints were gnarled and aching. But that was the year he stood.

His legs trembled. His whole body shook. But he stood.

And then he pulled me into his arms—and for the first time, I saw tears streaming down his face.

"Cecilia... thank you. You gave me a second life. I swear I'll love you properly from now on."

The whole Sanchez household celebrated. His mother clasped my hands, her eyes glistening.

"Cecilia, you're our family's blessing. Out of all the patients in that hospital, Graham noticed you. He chose to help your grandmother. He must have felt something for you, even then."

In that moment, I believed it.

I believed I'd finally melted the glacier. That the long night was over, and the moon had broken through the clouds.
