Chapter 3

Lidia walked out of the door like a ghost, came to the window of the outdoor room with her shoes in her hand and sat on the ground.

With her hands tightly hugging her knees, tears falling one by one. She suppressed her tears, feeling desperate and sad.

“Pamela, I love you.”

“Jeffry, I love you too.”

Amidst the sounds of their lovemaking, she cried silently.

Lidia saw the bloodstains on the heels of her high heels out of the corner of her eye and suddenly realized what was going on. She started laughing and crying.

This was a unique birthday gift that Jeffry specially asked an Italian craftsman to customize for her, a pair of silver-white high heels inlaid with 99 diamonds.

When she tried them on, she felt that they were one size too small. Jeffry said it was a mistake on the part of the craftsman and that he would order a new pair if they did not fit.

But she liked it very much and wanted to wear high heels to the engagement party, so she rejected his proposal.

The first time she wore it, her feet were rubbed until they bled.

It also made her realize that the owner of these shoes might not be her.

At the entrance, the fallen high heels were the same length as the silver-white high heels.

She stroked the shoes gently. No matter how beautiful the shoes were, they were useless if they could not be worn.

There was no need to marry someone who was not the right one.

At some point, there was no sound in the bridal chamber and the villa fell into darkness again.

Passing by the trash can at the gate, Lidia raised her hand and her high heels drew an arc and fell into the trash can.

When Lidia returned to the bedroom, even though the windows were open for ventilation, she was still greeted by a bad smell as soon as she walked in.

She sat by the window without turning on the lights and dialed the overseas number.

The one who answered the phone was her biological mother. She promised her mother to go abroad to inherit the family property and the other party helped her to complete various procedures and identity in the country.

She sat quietly by the window for a long time, until the lights in the room turned on.

“Lidia, why are you sitting on the ground? You are wearing a skirt and the ground is cold.”

Jeffry quickly walked over to her and pulled her up. When he saw her cheek, his expression looked a little unnatural.

“Does it still hurt? I didn't mean to do that. I hit you today for your own good.”

Jeffry was still wearing the suit he wore during the day. He raised his hand and stroked her cheek, very gently.

“Your parents brought up this shameful matter at the engagement party, which is bad for you. If you stop me from sending her to the hospital, it will only make your reputation worse.

“Besides, you have lived in the Lester Family for more than 20 years. Pamela is your biological sister. Taking care of her a little more is also to restore your reputation.

“She was frightened today. I just sent her home. Lidia, please be more generous.”

Jeffry, who had always been taciturn with other opposite sexes, said so much for Pamela at that moment.

In just three years, he seemed like a completely different person.

She looked at him and suddenly felt very strange.

The two were childhood sweethearts and she was the only exception for Jeffry.

This exception changed starting three years ago.

It was obvious that Lidia had always been by his side and she was involved in all his joys and sorrows.

Why would he betray her for a woman he had known for less than three years?

Seeing that she was silent and her eyes were red, Jeffry could not bear it.

He admitted that he had been a little too harsh that day out of impatience and had lost face for her in front of so many guests.

He sighed and held her in his arms.

“Lidia, your identity is different now, but don't worry about the wedding. I will take care of everything. You just need to be a bride peacefully.”

Jeffry was gentle to her. Seeing that she was angry and ignored him, he hugged her and coaxed her for a long time.

He thought if he would have to coax her for a long time, Lidia would be fine. But she remained indifferent, so he was surprised and felt a little uneasy.

Lidia used to be very sensitive and would get jealous if he said a few more words to the opposite sex.

That day he carried Pamela away in public, thinking she would ask questions.

He took two steps back and sat on the bed. She nestled in his arms and he saw her bloody heel at a glance.

“Why didn't you tell me you were injured? I'll go get the first aid kit.”

Lidia sat quietly on the new bed where they had just made love, looking down at Jeffry holding her bruised feet and carefully picking out the pebbles from the soles of her feet with a cotton swab.

“It hurts a little, but don't be afraid, I'll be gentle to you.”

A cotton swab soaked in hydrogen peroxide gently wiped the red wound. Lidia shrank back but did not make a sound.

Jeffry raised his eyes and saw the red lips with teeth marks, so he said, “Don't be so shy in front of me, just scream when it hurts.”

Lidia was in a daze for a moment. In the many times she was hurt in the past, Jeffry was by her side, treating her wounds and allowing her to rely on him without worry.

But how did he do it, cheating with another woman and slapping her in public. Who was he showing this to?

If he was afraid that she would find out, why did he bring her back to the bridal chamber to do that?

She was not even a daughter of the Lester Family. Was it necessary to drag on this scene for so long?

Was he not tired of pretending to be a gentle person in front of her for three years?
