“Mom, I have decided to accept your proposal, cancel my identity and go abroad to inherit the family property.”

Lidia Lester held the phone in her hand, her eyes fixed on the wedding photo on the bedside table and her tone was light and gentle.

The person on the other end of the phone was extremely happy when she responded, “It will take about half a month. We will meet all your requirements. During this half month, you can take good care of your relationships at home.”

In the dim room, only the bright moonlight shone in, illuminating the world, Lidia agreed and hung up the phone.

At the engagement party, Mrs. Lester held Pamela’s hand and said that she was the eldest daughter of the Lester Family and their biological daughter.

Mr. Lester never mentioned Lidia, but only said that it was a double happiness and introduced Pamela to everyone.

Jeffry stood aside and watched with a smile, as if they were the protagonists of the engagement party.

However, Lidia stood on the other side of the red carpet, looking at the close-knit family on the stage, feeling sad. She was shaken by how her parents, who were usually extremely cold to her, were so kind to their own daughter.

She pinched her palms to stay awake. After all, her parents had disliked her since she was a child, so as long as she could stay with Jeffry, nothing else matters.

Amid the guests’ mocking and sympathetic gazes, Lidia walked step by step to Jeffry.

The man was wearing a neat suit and had a gentle temperament. The two stood facing each other.

Halfway through the engagement banquet, Mrs. Lester suddenly cried out, “Pamela, wake up!”

Before Lidia could react, Jeffry ran to the guest seats like a gust of wind and held the unconscious Pamela in his arms.

Everyone was clamoring and asked Jeffry to send Pamela to the hospital.

Lidia grabbed Jeffry’s arm and begged, “Jeffry, today is our engagement party.”

Mrs. Lester raised her hand and pushed her away as she yelled, “Lidia, the engagement party is not important! Pamela fainted right now, so what’s more important is Pamela’s condition.”

Lidia repeated with red eyes, “But today is my engagement party with Jeffry.”

“Enough!” Jeffry growled, “This is not even a wedding banquet, Lidia. You should know your priorities.”

Feeling that Lidia was holding him tightly, he raised his hand and slapped her before he scolded, “Lidia, be aware of yourself now, okay? If everyone looks at your mind and temperament right now, how can you be qualified to be the young lady of the Hopkins Family?”

The man's eyes were filled with suppressed anger as he said that. 

After he finished speaking, he hugged Pamela and left.

Mr. Lester angrily scolded too, “You ungrateful bastard, when Pamela wakes up, come back and apologize in person!”

In the blink of an eye, they disappeared into the banquet hall.

She was left alone at the banquet, being ridiculed and pointed at by all the guests.
