Leaving Him To Pursue My Own Passion
Chapter 3
Lying on the bed and playing with the phone, I had an indescribable feeling in my heart.
I was not because I was sad. I just felt ridiculous. I had actually quarreled with my family because of Jeff.
I must have been blind.
Thinking of Elvis’ mocking words, I couldn’t sleep even more, and I had insomnia all night.
As long as I closed my eyes, Elvis’ face appeared.
Early the next morning, with deep dark circles under my eyes, my eyelids kept twitching.
I had a bad feeling.
Just as I sat up from the bed, I saw my roommate coming into the dormitory with a pile of materials in her hands.
“Isabella, why haven’t you gotten up yet?”
My roommate looked surprised.
Why couldn’t I sleep? It was still early, not even noon yet.
“Aren’t you looking for an internship?”
Oh, I remembered. It was the last year and everyone was looking for internships.
“Have you found one?”
“No, it’s not that easy. I’ve sent out a lot of resumes and been to many interviews, but there’s just no suitable one.”
My roommate looked disappointed.
If we hadn’t broken up, I would probably be worrying about internships too.
Now, my dad was over there. He would definitely help me.
“I wish I could join the Austin Group.”
No matter where I went, I could always relate to Elvis.
“Why do you have to join the Austin Group? There are other good companies too!”
Like my family’s company.
My roommate shook her head and said, “The Austin Group is the best of the best, especially Mr. Austin. He’s young, capable, and has a business mind. He’s definitely a top bachelor!”
Looking at my roommate’s intoxicated expression, I really couldn’t bear to shatter her illusion.
“I heard that Mr. Austin is also going to be over thirty. Is that young?”
“This age is the most charming time!”
Well, it was true that Elvis did look quite handsome.
At this moment, a phone ring interrupted our conversation.
“Dad, why are you calling me again? Are you trying to mock me?”
“No, I love you so much. How could I mock you? I just want to tell you that I have found an internship job for you. This time, I have gone all out for your job, even sacrificing my reputation!”
I was just thinking about asking Dad to help me find a job, and he had already done it!
“Thank you, Dad. I will work hard and not let you down.”
“You’re working at Elvis’ company, so I can rest assured. Learn as much as you can!”
What? My dad found a job in Elvis’ company for me?
“Alright. I have to go to a meeting now. Remember to go to Elvis’ family for registration tomorrow!”
The beep sound from my phone didn’t even give me a chance to refuse.
Before I could even lament my miserable fate, I heard my roommate shout.
“Isabella, your boyfriend Jeff is amazing. He actually got an internship at the Austin Group!”
“What? Where did you hear the news?”
My roommate looked at me in surprise, “Don’t you know? He posted on Instagram!”
“I don’t know. We broke up.”
Jeff had actually unfriended me. He was really fast.
But it was just a coincidence that we would be colleagues starting tomorrow.
I was looking forward to the future internship life.
In the evening, I went out to dinner with Sarah and told her about going to work at her family’s company tomorrow.
“Isabella, why are you so desperate to follow in my footsteps?”
“What?”
Next, Sarah started her one-hour-long complaint.
It made me confused.
“Have you already gone to your family’s company for an internship?”
“You used to only care about that scumbag boyfriend in your heart. You never cared about me!”
I couldn’t retort.
I thought it should be that Sarah couldn’t adapt to the work life and exaggerated it too much.
In order not to discourage her and to compensate her, I bought her the two bags she had been eyeing for a long time.
Early the next morning, I put on my newly bought dress.
I picked up my new bag, drove my new Aston Martin, and headed straight to the Austin Group.
Speaking of which, although this was Sarah’s family company, it was my first time coming here.
Looking at the magnificent building in front of me, I fell silent. Now I agreed with what my roommate said.
The Carlson family was indeed slightly inferior to the Austin Group, just a little bit.
I walked into the gate and went to the front desk to report my name.
I didn’t know if it was just my imagination, but I felt like she became even more polite after hearing my name.
“Miss Carlson, please wait a moment.”
“Okay.”
The receptionist made a phone call, and soon someone came down to pick me up.
Were interns treated so well now? Was there someone specifically here to pick them up?
I took a look and felt like my soul was about to leave my body.
Why did a lowly intern like me need Elvis’ assistant to pick up?
Dad, what kind of job did you find for me?
