Leave Me Alone, Ex-Husband!
Chapter 9
When she arrived at her destination, Fiona stepped out of the cab and gazed at the iron gate of a modern-style luxury mansion.
A handsome man stood in front of the gate from a distance, waiting for someone. After seeing Fiona and the medicine box she was carrying, he immediately knew that she was the doctor he requested from Peter Hopkins, the hospital director of Rende Hospital. Wanting to confirm his guess, he asked, "You are Dr. Smith?"
The man in front of Fiona seemed to be in his early twenties. Even though he was dressed in casual clothing and looked a little frivolous, it didn't hide his dignified aura.
Fiona bowed at him while she recalled Peter's words from earlier. After Peter called her to his office, he informed her she needed to attend to one of their VVIP patients in their house. His request came with a warning. This patient came from an influential background, and everything disclosed to her should be kept confidential.
Fiona agreed, not thinking much of it. However, when she felt Edgar staring at her with a strange look in his eyes, Fiona doubted whether this job would be as easy as she thought.
"I gotta say. You're way younger and more beautiful than I thought, Dr. Smith." Edgar praised her as though he didn't see Fiona's skeptical look.
"Thank you," Fiona modestly smiled and asked, remembering what she came here for, "How are you feeling, Mr. Clinton?"
That's right, the man standing before Fiona was Edgar Clinton, a well-known figure in Cester. Besides coming from a prominent family, he was constantly entangled in several gossips. So, it was not so surprising for Fiona to know him.
After hearing her call his name, Edgar didn't look so surprised either. He approached her and took the medical bag in her hand. While motioning her to follow him, he clarified, "I'm not your patient. It's someone else. Let's go."
Fiona looked at him in surprise. So Edgar was not her patient. Fiona felt a little intrigued. She couldn't help but wonder who could be so capable that Edgar chose to handle this matter personally.
She entered the spacious, silent villa with these thoughts running through her mind. Then she looked around but didn't see anyone—not even a maid or any employees.
Fiona quietly followed Edgar on the second floor, and when they arrived in front of the door to the master's bedroom, Edgar turned to her and said, "Wait a minute."
Fiona nodded.
"Oh, by the way, his character and temper are a little strange. So better prepare yourself," he added in a hushed voice.
Fiona had handled several kinds of patients, so she could understand what Edgar was saying. "Err… I got it," she responded.
After he took a step forward, Edgar knocked on the door, saying, "Hey, the doctor is here. Please open the door."
There was no response.
Edgar smiled sheepishly at Fiona before knocking again. "Hey."
Still, there was no response.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Edgar looked back at Fiona and explained, "He's shy."
Fiona was lost for words.
Now she was even more curious about this patient of hers.
After knocking for some time, Edgar finally lost his patience. Edgar raised his eyebrows and spoke angrily, folding his arms, "Mr. Rodriguez, please don't keep us waiting. I'll force my way in if you don't come out now! How can you treat a lovely lady and your closest friend like this!"
As soon as Edgar finished speaking, the door in front of him suddenly opened from the inside. Then, a cold and frightening voice rang out, "How many times must I say it? I'm not ill!"
