Chapter 2

Due to being anemic and in deep anguish, I found myself going into shock at the airport.

When I came to, the staff members at the airport had sent me to the hospital.

The doctor who attended to me was a male, Slonian doctor.

I finally managed to borrow someone's phone. This time, I knew that I had to break it off with Spencer for good.

"Prepare a divorce agreement for me. I don't need there to be any terms other than my child. Just deliver the divorce agreement to him on my behalf."

My sudden decision came as a shock to Drew Miller. Even so, he still consoled me, saying, "Alright. Just leave him, then.

"You really scared me when I couldn't get in touch with you the last few days, Didi. Whatever it is, do take good care of yourself. I'll sort out the divorce on your behalf."

After making that call, I sorted out my discharge procedures as quickly as I could.

I was aware that I couldn't go on feeling dispirited like this. My daughter, Rosalie Jacobson, was only three months old. I had to do all I could to take her away with me.

She was my only motivation to stay alive.

Having resolved myself, I was surprised to see Spencer calling me right before I got on my flight. I stared at my phone silently for as long as it rang.

Finally, he gave up.

I let out an instinctive sigh. Then, a carefree smile spread across my face.

This was my first time refusing to answer his call. As it turned out, the feeling of following one's heart was thrilling.

That being said, I knew that Spencer wasn't going to let me go.

Thus, I was not surprised to see him staring at me with bloodshot eyes when I opened the front door to our home.

"Way to go, Bindi Leef."

"What?"

I ignored him after giving him a cold response. I then changed into my indoor slippers on my own, then headed upstairs.

Perhaps Spencer couldn't take the feeling of being disregarded. As a result, he picked up the ashtray from the coffee table and hurled it right at me, hitting my temple.

The intense pain soon spread through my head. But all I could think of in such a situation was not wanting to scare Rosalie if I went upstairs like this.

Spencer probably hadn't expected to have such great aim. The slight panic in his voice was audible.

"Didi, are you alright? I didn't do that on purpose. I was just a little agitated. I-I'll get the first aid kit for you."

I burst out laughing at Spencer's words. "The first aid kit? Do you even know where it's kept in the house? How many times have you actually come back home?"

His focus had always been on Natalia. I was surprised that he showed such concern toward me today.

I retrieved the first aid kit from the storage room, then put some bandages around my head. After that, I went upstairs without a word.

Spencer did not say anything else but simply tagged along with me in silence.

My baby was playing with her own toys in the nursery.

Suddenly, sorrow flooded into my heart. She was still so young, but she had to live with the truth that her parents were going to be divorced.

I watched over Rosalie until she fell asleep before stepping out of the room quietly.

I lifted my eyes slightly. In a slightly impatient tone, I asked Spencer, "Did you have any comments about the divorce agreement?"

All of a sudden, Spencer's eyes turned red. "What are you trying to do? We've been married for five years, yet you're doing something like this now. Bindi, you're not a child. I've had enough of your unreasonable behavior since five years ago.

"When can you be more mature, just like Natalia?"

Natalia this, Natalia that. It was that woman again.

I couldn't take it any longer and delivered a tight slap to the man who betrayed years of my true feelings for him.

"Are you done? Spencer, please also handle your problems like an adult. The divorce agreement I gave you was drafted by my attorney. Why are you bringing Natalia up? Are you asking me to get my attorney to search for evidence of your affair?

"I've had enough after these few years of being married to you. I don't want my child to suffer under your care in the future. Also, please don't make such a ridiculous fuss before me, alright?"

Despite being so aggressive earlier, Spencer drew back all of a sudden. He looked toward me in disbelief, as if I was the scumbag who betrayed him.

"Didi, how many times do I have to tell you that Natalia and I are just friends? There is nothing more between us. Why must you make a fuss?

"Sure, I was wrong for not going on that overseas trip with you as I promised. But that was because Natty… S-She—"

In truth, talking to someone like him felt meaningless. I had no interest in hearing about his relationship with Natalia, nor would I let jealousy take over.

Deep down, those were no longer important. My heart had gone completely cold. Regardless of what he did or said now, Spencer wouldn't be able to bring warmth to my heart again.

I walked into my room and started packing up some of my necessities.

Spencer followed me into the room like a shadow. How revolting.

As expected, once he saw what I was doing, he started condemning me just like he used to. "Bindi, I've been too kind to you. I've given you so many chances today. Why can't you just humble yourself and apologize?

"You're even packing your bags right now. Who are you putting on this act for? You should know where to draw the line. Don't even think of coming back once you cross the line."

Fortunately, I had developed a strong character by now. If I had heard these words in the past, I would have groveled to him like a pitiful dog to ask for his forgiveness.

"I'm leaving. Please speak with my attorney, Drew Miller, regarding the division of our assets."

I continued packing my bags without so much as another glance at Spencer.

I had to take Rosalie's things with me too. She was a descendant of the Leef family, so I certainly couldn't allow anyone else to take her. Not even if that person was Spencer, the man I once loved with all my heart.
