After years of studying abroad, a young heir returns home to a seemingly warm family welcome. Her aunt cooks a feast, and her uncle offers her a position at the family firm. However, the illusion of hospitality quickly shatters when her cousin and his wife demand she work as a mere intern and move out of the residence to avoid crowding them. Little do these greedy relatives know, both the massive company and the luxury estate belong entirely to her.

My Cousin's Family Lives in My House and Wants to Kick Me Out Chapter 1

When I came back from studying abroad, my aunt prepared delicious food to welcome me, and my uncle warmly invited me back to work in my family's company.

No sooner than I was moved by the enthusiasm of my relatives, my cousin and his wife said,

"You could work in the company, but you have to start as an intern."

"I'm not used to living together with an outsider, not even a nanny. So let her go out and rent a house."

An awkward silence descended upon the scene, and I looked at my uncle and aunt with a frown.

The house was mine, and the company was mine, too.

So what was she talking about?

On the day I returned home, I found that I had failed the house's facial verification, and the password was changed as well.

After ringing the doorbell for a long time, my cousin's wife finally came to open the door for me in her slippers, saying impatiently, "You are an adult already. Don't you know to inform us ahead of time before you come to our house?"

I was stunned for a moment, and before I could say anything, my aunt came over, rubbing her hands on her apron. She smiled and said, "Jesse, finally you return home. You look thinner than before. I arrange a dinner for you, so come in, come in."

My aunt's enthusiasm dispelled my doubts. I followed her into the house and saw a table full of dishes.

"I went to the supermarket early in the morning and let the maidservant cook these dishes. Jesse, it's all your favorite ones."

My uncle smiled flatteringly as he took my luggage and said he would put it away for me, "Don't worry about it. You are already home. We would wait upon Princess Jesse for anything."

I felt a little embarrassed and mouthed 'thanks', and then my aunt pulled me aside and asked me about my life while abroad.

My cousin's wife rolled her eyes and went upstairs, muttering, "Do you even know who's the true master here? Living in other's house without paying is an act so shameless."

I didn't hear it clearly, but I heard the shameless part clearly. I frowned and asked her, "Who are you talking about, sister-in-law?"

My aunt smiled and tried to smooth things over. She took me to the kitchen and said in a low voice, "A few days ago, a relative from her mother's side came over to eat and drink for free. She was angry with them. Jesse, don't argue with your sister-in-law."

My aunt shed tears. I saw that she didn't look like acting, so I comforted her, "The house is big. If he was really a good person, it's okay for him to stay at our home for a few days. Please persuade my sister-in-law not to be so stingy, we are all a family."

This villa was my 18th birthday gift, but unfortunately, my parents passed away before they could see it finished.

I was studying abroad at the time, and my aunt wanted to move into it. I thought we were relatives, and she had done a lot in taking care of my mother, so I agreed.

The house was more than 500 square meters. Except for my master bedroom, which was not allowed to be touched, it was also home to their family of four. It could also accommodate a few more people.

My aunt smiled and agreed to it. My uncle had just placed my luggage properly for me, and then my aunt called all the family members to eat dinner.

My cousin was not very familiar with me, and he had only met my eldest sister-in-law a few times. The two of them ate in silence, but my uncle and aunt kept chatting with me warmly.

When the atmosphere was getting heated, I mentioned my future plans, "I will go to the company to start work in a couple of days. I couldn't just stay at home all the time."

Uncle's face froze, then he waved his hand while laughing, "It's good. Let Tim take you when the time comes. Tim, ask the HR department to make arrangements for Jesse. Some sly people had joined the company over the past two years, and we can't allow them to bully Jesse."

I was just about to say that there was no need to do that. In the past few years, when I was abroad, I handled all the company's businesses remotely. Now that I returned home, it was a good opportunity to discipline those unruly employees.

As a result, my cousin's face darkened, and he said with a bit of displeasure, "Dad, let's make it clear first, our company doesn't practice nepotism. Jesse could join the company, but she had to start as an intern."

I was stunned. As the person holding the most shares, why should I have to work as an intern first?

The uncle slapped him in the face, his face turning ugly, "What nonsense are you talking about? Jesse was your sister. Is there anything wrong asking you to protect your sister?!"

Before Tim could say anything, my cousin's wife threw down her fork and said, "Dad, what you said is wrong, isn't it? Jesse had been studying abroad so she could take up many menial jobs. We can't let her sit around idly, anyway. Also, didn't she have a home of her own? Why does she have to live in our house?"

She looked at me irritatedly and said, "I don't care about the company's affairs, but I'm not used to living together with an outsider. Even a maidservant couldn't do it, let alone her. Let her go out and rent a house."
