In Shock: Living as a Character in a Romance Novel
Chapter 1
By the time I realized I was the female supporting role in a sweet and sour childhood sweetheart novel, I had just been hospitalized to help Ian Peterson avoid an accident.
He confessed his love for me when I woke up.
I jokingly said, "Did you confess your love for me because you were moved?"
Ian said, "No, it's because I really like you."
——
We posted about our relationship on Instagram in the morning.
Later in the evening, I saw Ian's memo where he recorded his daily thoughts.
Ian: [Why hasn't Tiffany come to see me yet? If she says she's in love with me, I'll break up immediately.]
I doubted that my brain seemed to be damaged because of the accident. Otherwise, why would a novel appear out of nowhere in my mind? Moreover, I was the female supporting role, and my current boyfriend, Ian, was the leading actor in it. Unfortunately, the leading actress was not me but his childhood sweetheart, Tiffany Mitchell.
As the vicious female supporting role, I was both a stumbling block and a catalyst for their relationship.
I didn't believe it at first, but the content inside the novel was exactly the same as the real world. As a secret admirer who followed Ian for three years, I nodded and agreed almost immediately when Ian asked me if I wanted to be in a relationship with him.
What Ian did wasn't because he was impressed or truly loved me, it was just to annoy his childhood sweetheart, Tiffany.
I accepted the plot of the novel quickly. To confirm the authenticity, I even checked the password of Ian's cell phone, which was 0312, while he was in the restroom.
It wasn't Tiffany's birthday, and it had even less to do with me. It was Ian's private emotion.
In the novel, this was the day he realized he was in love with Tiffany.
Almost as soon as the phone were unlocked, I realized that even if this was a dream, it represented prediction.
Before Ian returned, I quickly turned off my cell phone and put it back in its place.
Even though Ian was beside me, he stayed anxious and kept looking at his cell phone as if he was waiting to hear from someone.
Just then, the door was pushed open from the outside. I didn't get a chance to see who it was before I saw that Ian already looked surprised.
Tiffany looked over at me with displeasure, but she forced a smile.
"I heard Ellie was hurt, so I came to visit her. I didn't even go to James' birthday party for this."
She seemed to stress James' name on purpose. Sure enough, Ian looked disgruntled.
Everyone knew that Tiffany was pursuing James publicly these days, and Ian announced our relationship on Instagram because of it.
He was secretly fighting with Tiffany.
If not, how could this be called a sweet and sour childhood sweetheart novel? The sour part was that both were reluctant to express their affection and fought with each other since childhood, while the sweet part was that both adored each other from the beginning to the end. As a nominal girlfriend like me, I was just there to facilitate the relationship between the leading actor and actress.
I sighed inside while thinking, "So what does that make me?
Am I going to get involved in this war just because I have a crush on Ian?"
I could still remember my ending in this novel. After I experienced the leading actor's partiality, neglect and taking advantage of me, the leading actor and actress finally understood each other's feelings and got together with joy.
As for me, the unknown female supporting role, I of course quit awkwardly amidst the jeers. The flashbulbs were for the main character only while the despair belonged to the supporting role.
