I Ruined My Wedding, But Found True Love
I Ruined My Wedding, But Found True Love Chapter 1
After five years of dating Dylan Foster, he finally proposed to me at my birthday party.
I kept staring at the ring on my finger as I walked to the restroom. My best friend, Sandra, followed behind me.
"I think this diamond is a fake." She said.
I turned to her with a glare. "Don't speak about my fiance that way. No matter what it's worth. It must have cost him a fortune."
It was no secret that small town boy, Dylan, was dating the heir to billions of dollars worth of businesses.
I walked faster to get away from her and I did, I passed Granddaddy's room. His room had been locked since his death about fifteen years ago but I could hear sounds coming from the room.
Someone was moaning. Who would someone dare to do such a thing? On my birthday of all days. How would they even have got the key?
I put my ear to the door, just then I heard Emily's voice. "Are you really going to marry her?"
Dylan had given her the key. But why? Who was she having sex with?
"She's no match for you, sweetie."
At the sound of my fiance's voice, my heart broke in two.
My name is Heather Willson, the heir to the Willson empire and this is the story of how I ruined my own wedding ceremony.
Dylan and I had been close since he saved me from a drunk truck driver. He pushed me out of the way but he got hit by the truck instead. Daddy put him in the hospital and made sure to sponsor his education.
Dylan and I come from vastly different backgrounds. How do I say it? If Dylan's family lived on the earth, my family could afford to buy the moon. But life had made our paths cross and my gratitude to him turned to love.
Until she came into the picture.
Emily was Dylan's sister. Which makes the very lewd act they're committing disgusting.
I don't blame anyone but myself because when my friends told me to reject him, I refused because I loved him much more than I loved myself.
And that was the problem. Over the years, Emily and Dylan have gotten so close to each other that Sandra suspected something was going on between them.
My mind flashed to an hour ago.
I was standing by the pool with all my friends when Dylan walked in with a smile on his face. He was holding her hand as he yelled, "Surprise."
"What surprise?" I asked.
He pushed Emily forward. "She's here to wish you a happy birthday."
I didn't want to lose face with my friends so I pretended to smile. "That’s very gracious of you, Emily."
"I have a gift for you." Emily came forward and presented me with a pair of luxurious designer heels. "I saved up all the money I made from the last Opera Concert to get this. What do you think?"
I stared at Dylan, hoping he would see what I saw. I had a pair of those shoes go missing shortly after Emily stayed over at my house for the first time. Dylan said I misplaced them but I was sure because all that was left was the package box.
"Thank you." I took the shoes from her and tried to focus on the fact that my boyfriend was here.
"I have another surprise for you." He got down on one knee and proposed.
Before I could say yes, Sandra and Alexa, my bestest friends pulled me away and asked if I knew what I was doing. They had never liked Dylan and they never failed to remind me.
"Yes, I love him."
"He seems like a gold digger to me." Alexa was one to always say her mind.
"Yeah, I agree with Alexa." Sandra said.
I shooed them away and went to accept the ring.
Now that my birthday party is in full swing, I can hear my boyfriend having sex with another woman. On the same day that I finally got the proposal I've been dreaming about.
My friends had complained that I had a very basic proposal because they had done all the work to set-up my birthday and all Dylan did was go on one knee for me. But it was perfect for me.
Now that I think about it, there were signs that I chose to miss. Like the day I caught them both in the shower.
I had traveled abroad for a business presentation. On my way back, my flight was delayed so I called ahead to let Dylan know I would be late. My flight was later rescheduled and I got on the plane. Only for me to walk into the house to see clothes strewn on the floor.
Female clothes.
I had walked upstairs cautious of an intruder and also suspecting that Dylan had a woman over. Only for me to open the door to my bathroom and I saw Dylan standing beside the bathtub, with a towel around his waist while Emily was naked in the shower.
Both of their eyes were wide with fear. Emily quickly pulled the shower curtain close to cover herself while Dylan faced me.
"What is she doing here?" I asked.
Dylan quickly ushered me out of the toilet. "Her house is undergoing some changes. She needs a place to stay for a few days."
"Why can't she stay with your mother?"
"Your house is closer to her office.”
“But she’s naked and you were there.”
“Come on, she's my sister. I used to give her baths when she was little."
I didn't say anything else because I didn't want us to argue. Although, it was a little suspicious that he was there with only one towel. I made up an excuse for Dylan. Maybe Emily had forgotten to bring a towel and he was helping out.
It was two days after she left that I noticed my shoes were missing. The same shoes that she presented to me as my birthday gift. Shoes that now have scuffle marks and that had a few stains here and there. They were obviously worn shoes but she did her best to hide the fact.
I had thought I was going mad because I felt like over the past five years, Dylan had changed towards me. His feelings had turned cold and he prioritized Emily's needs over mine but everytime I brought it up, he said I was jealous and that I should do better as the older one and take her as my younger sister.
Younger sister's, my foot. After all she's done to me? Emily deserved nothing but the worst life had to offer.
