Chapter 1

In her previous life, Claire Taylor was a model wife in the eyes of others.

People always said that I was so lucky to be able to marry such a good wife.

But what they didn't know was that during ten years of marriage, she had been avoiding me in private.

She had always had her childhood friend Evan Carter in her heart, and marrying me was just to fulfill her parents' promise.

After being reborn, I decided to live for myself.

——

"Claire, if you come to accompany me, your husband won't be angry, right?"

Listening to the familiar scheming words on the phone, I glanced sideways.

It was not until that moment that I was truly sure that I was reborn.

Just like in the previous life, every time Claire went to see Evan, Evan always pretended to consider me and said such words.

"It's okay. Don't worry. I won't be angry. Once Claire and I divorce, you can live a good life with her."

I snatched the phone and spoke quickly to Evan on the other end of the line, then hung up without waiting for his response.

Claire suddenly became angry.

"Joe Brown, are you fucking nuts? He's just sick and wants me to help. Why so mean?

"I've never seen a man as petty as you, loser."

Hurtful words came out of Claire's mouth one after another. Seeing the good wife in the eyes of others being so mean, I didn't bother to continue pretending.

"What's the relationship between you and your so-called best friend Evan? Do you really think I don't know?

"I don't want to endure it anymore. Just go with him and let's get divorced."

After saying that, I turned around and walked out regardless of Claire's angry look.

On the way home, the painful experiences of my previous life came to my mind.

My father once saved Claire's parents' lives, so our marriage was arranged before we were born.

In order to fulfill her parents' promise, Claire had no choice but to marry me.

And her childhood friend Evan who had been with her for more than ten years became the person in her heart that she would never be able to forget.

From date to marriage, she always looked indifferent, cold and quiet.

I thought she was a slow starter, until later on when I saw her true colors.

On the wedding day, she kept looking anxiously out the door. I thought she was waiting for some important guest, but she said it was just her good friend.

It was not until Evan arrived that I realized that her good friend was actually a scheming man.

When they met me, they had just come out of the utility room. Evan came over very naturally and put his arm around my shoulders.

"Claire, this is your husband? He does look very handsome and has a strong sense of responsibility."

He chatted with me naturally.

"Let me tell you, Claire and I grew up together, so I'm almost considered her brother.

"I know her best. She has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. If she dares to bully you, come to me and I will help you lecture her."

At that time, I naively thought that they were just good friends and didn't take it seriously.

But Claire didn't come home on the wedding night. I called her, but she just said she was with her childhood friends.

I was about to say something when I heard Evan say on the phone, "Oh, you don't distrust Claire, do you? Her friends have finally gathered together from all over the world to celebrate her wedding. What are you worried about?"

Claire also seemed angry and simply said, "I'll be back." Then she hung up the phone in a hurry.

But she didn't come back until the early morning of the next day, when I couldn't wait any longer and fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up, she was already up and dressing at the dressing table.

I simply asked what time she came back the night before, but Claire's expression suddenly changed.

I still remembered her expression at that time.

Her face seemed to be filled with disbelief.

"You really don't believe me?"
