Chapter 4

The police officer said, "Mateo Scott, we received a report claiming that there are a large number of human tissue-like substances in the water pipe. After our identification, those tissues are from a human corpse. Moreover, according to DNA comparison, the corpse belongs to your girlfriend Violet Taylor. So please come with us now."

Mateo suddenly interrupted the police officer. "Wait, officer, you said that it is my girlfriend's corpse? How is that possible? Didn't she commit suicide by jumping into the sea? How could her body be in the sewer of this building?"

The police officer fixed Mateo with a sharp gaze. "Indeed, it is the corpse of your girlfriend. As for why her body is in the sewer of this building, we need your cooperation with our investigation."

Mateo's face paled at this. "Officer, are you suspecting that I killed Violet and disposed of her body? How could I do such a thing? You must have the wrong person. Things were good between Violet and me. "

The police officer's expression changed subtly. "Really? However, according to our investigation, someone in this building heard strange noises coming from your room on the night of June 10th. And on that night, you used two tons of water. Mr. Scott, can you explain it to me?"

I heard Mateo's angry voice. "I see. He set me up! He knew that I saw him kill Violet, so he wanted to shift the blame to me!"

Then, Mateo was taken away by the police.

I couldn't hear what he said anymore.

I suddenly felt cold all over and couldn't stop trembling.

Who was the person Mateo mentioned?

Suddenly, I remembered that on the night of the murder, I didn't see the face of the killer.

Only Mateo knew the time and place, so I thought the person who killed me was him.

But at this moment, I suddenly realized that things seemed not so simple.

It wasn't until it got dark that I realized I had been in this room for a long time.

During these few hours, the words Mateo said before being arrested kept echoing in my ears.

What did Mateo know exactly?

In this murder case, what role did he play exactly?

And who exactly was the murderer?

Was Mateo trying to defend himself, or was there someone else?

I suddenly thought of someone.

Elaine Smith.

She was my college roommate, and Mateo cheated on me with her.

Did she know something?

Even if there was a glimmer of hope, I had to give it a try.

Just as I was about to open the door and leave, I heard a familiar melody.

The male voice was deep and filled with a hint of joy.

"A girl carries a doll and walks to the garden to see the cherry blossoms. She cries and calls for her mother."

It was him!

Through the peephole, I saw the man slowly open the door opposite.

In the next second, a large meat grinder suddenly appeared in the middle of the living room!

Then the man suddenly turned his head.

I stared at his face intently.

He was actually wearing a mask!

That damn mask again!

Watching him walk towards me step by step, I couldn't help but swallow.

What did he want to do?

I picked up the phone in my pocket and wanted to call the police, but it ran out of battery and was off.

At this moment, the man's hand rested on the doorknob.

I instinctively took a few steps back.
