Chapter 5

Lucas breathed a sigh of relief.

Without even glancing at me, he said with a sense of relief,

"That's good. I still have to pick out a thousand princess dresses for the little princess. I can't let her wait impatiently."

"You should take a good rest."

After saying that, he left without looking back.

I suppressed my heartache and spoke in a trembling voice.

"I want to schedule an abortion."

"What?!"

"Ma'am, you are born with a thin uterine wall. If you have an abortion, you may never get pregnant again in this life! Are you really not going to consider it again?"

The nurse asked in surprise.

I curled my knuckles tightly, but couldn't help but ease the force a bit as they landed on my lower abdomen.

"never mind……"

I still can't bear to...abandon such an innocent little life.

Even my dead heart couldn't help but rekindle a glimmer of hope.

I wonder if Lucas would be willing to return to his family for the sake of the child...

I paid the fee and returned home feeling uneasy.

Just as he was about to push the door open to tell Lucas the news, he suddenly froze in place after seeing the scene inside the house!

Lucas was seen hugging Ivy from behind, his usually cool and clear face was now filled with impatience.

"Brother Lucas, you pester me so many times every day, and you don't take any measures..."

"But when you were with Sister Sophie, you always gave her contraception afterwards!"

My breath hitched.

Contraception, how is it possible?

Isn’t Lucas…the one who is looking forward to having children the most?

I widened my eyes, but saw Lucas speak helplessly and lovingly,

"How can they be the same? Sophie is just an ordinary person from a low-income family. How can such a person be qualified to be the mother of a wealthy heir?"

"Even when I was most interested in her, I kept this in mind and kept giving her contraception. But you are different, Ivy. You are well-educated, poised, and intelligent. I am looking forward to you giving birth to a child for me, and making you the heir of The Wentworth Estate!"

As if struck by lightning, all the color drained from my face.

It turns out that in Lucas' heart, he has always disliked me and even felt that I was not worthy of bearing his child!

After crying silently for a long time, I took a deep breath and there was no hesitation in my eyes anymore.

Lucas, I'll do as you wish and abort the baby!

Three hours later, I was lying on the cold operating table, feeling the life in my belly being peeled off...

This feeling is so painful that you wish you were dying.

But I also know that after the pain, what awaits me will be rebirth!

From now on, nothing can hurt me anymore!

……

Three days and three nights passed, I stayed in the hospital and didn't go home, but Lucas didn't even call me.

The first thing I did when I got home was to burn all the items related to the children.

Lucas happened to come back, and seeing the billowing smoke, he frowned and asked,

"Why burn such good things? Aren't they for our future children?"

We won't have children.

I had no expression on my face.

Speak softly,

"There is no future."

Lucas paused.

A trace of panic flashed across his eyes.

He subconsciously grabbed my wrist and pushed me against the wall.

"Sophie, stop talking nonsense!"

"I know you've been wronged recently, but in my heart, you will always be the only Sophie, and that won't change."

"Even if I don't love you, I still have a responsibility to you. I will never give up on you so easily..."
