After the Death of the Mother-in-law, The Husband Gave Up the Mistress
Chapter 2
I borrowed cell phones from passers-by and called Adam repeatedly.
But no one answered the call and even eventually the phone was turned off.
Repeatedly dialing phone numbers made me feel numb and even sick, but I still couldn't stop. It was the only thing I could do now.
"Ms. Miller, the patient had a second cerebral hemorrhage and all rescue measures proved ineffectual..."
Unfortunately, Norma did not survive and passed away soon after from a second cerebral hemorrhage.
I didn't have time to grieve, because the hospital ordered me to have Norma cremated immediately.
After dealing with everything, I lay numbly on the bed. When I wanted to send a message to Adam, I saw that he unexpectedly gave me a mention in his Moments.
The woman in the photo was smiling sweetly, with a small piece of cake smeared on the tip of her nose and on her cheeks.
Elvira leaned delicately on the man, with countless luxury items placed in front of her.
The caption was [Nothing is more important than your birthday].
I didn't know why he gave me a mention. Maybe it was just a demonstration from Elvira, and she simply wanted to upset me.
I stared at his Moments intently, and once again felt pity for Norma.
Three hours had passed since Adam gave me a mention in his Moments with a location. And unfortunately, Norma had also been dead for three hours.
I calmly took out the divorce agreement and took a taxi to their location.
There were more than twenty people in the private room and it was noisy with flickering lights.
Seeing me coming, Adam frowned impatiently, and those friends who were drunk and couldn't speak clearly also looked at me with ridicule.
"What are you doing here?" Adam asked unhappily, looked at the waiter beside him and motioned for him to take me away.
Elvira was lying in Adam's arms, and her tender white leg hooked around Adam's foot. She said in a delicate voice,
"Come on, Adam. You're scaring me."
I walked calmly to Adam and placed the divorce agreement on his desk.
"Sign it."
When Adam saw the words on the paper clearly, veins popped on his forehead, and the others present also gasped.
"Divorce? Stop playing the fox. Go away. I don't want to be disturbed when I'm celebrating Elvira's birthday with her."
I pursed my lips and put a black pen into Adam's hand.
"If you don't want me to bother you, just sign it."
Maybe they saw the displeasure on Adam's face, his friends didn't dare to persuade him to reconcile. Only Elvira dared to speak at that time.
She hugged Adam's arm with her arms, and her whole body hung on him like a pendant. She looked at the divorce agreement with an aggrieved look.
"It's all my fault, Adam. I made Nancy Miller angry."
After saying that, she stood up and looked at me stubbornly with her head raised.
"It has nothing to do with Adam. If you want, just blame me. Please don't get divorced because of me.
"I just wanted to spend more time with Adam, but I didn't expect to make you unhappy. I'm leaving right away. Don't quarrel."
Elvira kept talking, which made me feel annoyed.
Adam grabbed Elvira's hand, pulled her to his side, and pressed her shoulders to prevent her from leaving.
"What do you want? Stop threatening me with the divorce agreement."
Adam turned his face away and didn't even want to look at me.
"Your mother died." I tried hard to suppress the trembling in my voice, not wanting to cry in front of so many people.
"What did you say?" There was a slight change in Adam's expression.
Elvira, who was standing aside, was extremely nervous, because she was the one who answered my call. She said haltingly,
"What nonsense are you talking about? No matter how angry you are with Adam, you can't curse his mother!
"Adam, don't be fooled by her nonsense. Auntie Norma is in great health. How could she die?"
As if comforting herself, Elvira nodded confidently after saying that.
I glanced at Elvira coldly and said,
"Your mother died of a cerebral hemorrhage."
Adam sneered, obviously thinking that I was lying to him.
After all, he was the most authoritative doctor in the city, and if his mother went to the hospital because of cerebral hemorrhage, how could his coworkers not call him?
But he didn't expect that besides me, his coworkers also called him many times.
It was a pity that Adam's phone was always held by Elvira. After finally getting through the call, his phone was immediately turned off.
"You are too jealous, so I don't want to bring you to this kind of occasion. You want a divorce just because I am celebrating the birthday of my childhood friend?"
I sneered and didn't say anything.
I uploaded the photos from my phone to the big screen in the room after connecting them via Bluetooth.
"You mean that good friends can be so close that you can feed each other mouth to mouth and lie naked in the same bed?"
