Chapter 3

I was about to turn off my phone when Matteo called.

"I sent you the address. I'll pick you up later. There's a surprise."

I showed a sarcastic smile. He had given me enough surprises.

Without waiting for me to refuse, he hung up the phone.

I didn't expect that he would even remove me from the block list before our divorce.

After taking my medicine, I noticed Matteo's car had already reached downstairs.

I received the message and went out in my casual clothes.

Matteo's smiling eyes unexpectedly fell on my pale face without makeup and instantly turned cold.

"How can I take you out if you don't wear makeup or change clothes? Even if you are angry and acting crazy, please don't embarrass me, okay?"

Then, Hanna, who was sitting in the passenger seat, rolled down the car window in a formal dress, revealing her delicate and innocent little face.

She stuck out her tongue playfully.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Orlando. I forgot to inform Tiffany...I didn't reach her."

Thinking of my blocked account, I smiled indifferently.

"It's okay. A man's dignity is not given by a woman.

"Besides, having such a beautiful secretary is enough to prove your ability."

My utterance choked Matteo's reproachful words.

I glanced at Hanna, who was sitting in the passenger seat, and saw that she had no intention of giving up her seat, so I simply sat in the back seat.

Along the way, Hanna happily chatted with me about the birthday party that the company employees held for her.

Her tone was full of regret.

"Tiffany, I wish you were there. I really want you to see how majestic Mr. Orlando is! I do envy you!"

Matteo appeared gloomy and attempted to speak to me multiple times, to no avail.

Arriving at the hotel, Hanna got out of the car and walked directly to Matteo.

I glanced at them and followed them.

The waiter called Hanna Mrs. Orlando. Matteo wanted to explain, but his eyes fell on my bare face, and he ultimately said nothing.

His expression was so funny that I wanted to laugh.

The company's employees were crowded at the elevator entrance, waiting.

When the elevator door opened, everyone's faces froze when they saw Matteo and Hanna standing in front.

A hint of embarrassment flashed across their faces.

Seeing this, Levis, the company's shareholder, quickly spoke up, "Ms. Bynes, here you came! If it weren't for your hard work, this project wouldn't have been signed! Today, our entire company has to thank you!"

I knew he was trying to support me.

So I smiled gratefully and said, "Come on. Don't call me that. I don't know what position I will be in when I return from abroad."

Matteo, who was walking in front, suddenly stopped.

He turned around and looked at me with a frown, his eyes full of confusion.

"What do you mean abroad? You want to go abroad? How come I didn't know? When did I agree to it?"

We looked at each other.

The atmosphere that had just eased turned subdued again.

The waiter next to us thought we couldn't find our seats, so he took the initiative to come forward to break the awkward atmosphere and lead us into the private room.

Hanna sat down next to Matteo naturally.

I glanced at her, said nothing, and sat on the other side.

The closed environment was soon filled with smoke, and I had to go out for some fresh air.

But I didn't expect Matteo to follow me out of the private room.

He strode forward, seizing my wrist with a rare hint of nervousness in his voice.

"I didn't forget our anniversary, so please don't be angry, okay?

"Today is the company's dinner. I could have not invited you, but I wanted to compensate you."

I looked at the embarrassed expression on his face and suddenly laughed.

"I'm not angry. Don't think too much about it."

Then, I turned and walked towards the women's room at the end of the corridor.

The cold water splashed on my face, clearing my dizzy mind.

Upon returning to the private room, I found a new female employee sitting in my seat, toasting Matteo.

Hearing footsteps, coupled with the embarrassed expressions of everyone at the table, she slowly turned her head and met my indifferent face.

The next second, she stood up abruptly.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Bynes. I'm just toasting Mr. Orlando. I don't mean anything else. Please take a seat..."

Before I could say anything, Hanna waved her hand generously.

"Tiffany is not a 20-year-old girl. How can she be so petty? Right, Mr. Orlando? Mr. Orlando often says that Tiffany is generous and kind!

"But I think Mr. Orlando is just as generous and kind as my Tiffany! Otherwise, why would he give me such a large bonus in advance on my birthday? My friends are so envious that they wish they could quit their jobs and come to work in our company!"

After saying that, she winked at me playfully.

There was a sound of inhalation all around.

Levis raised his glass in mid-air, not knowing whether to drink or to toast.

Before it was exposed, he could still cover up for Matteo.

But today, Hanna provoked me in public, and Levis was in a dilemma.

I nodded calmly, sitting down as the crowd watched in horror.

Hanna, with a smile, picked up her wine glass and walked towards me.

"Tiffany, I'd like to toast to you. It's really hard for you to work and take care of the family at the same time, but don't forget to care for yourself. Women should dress up beautifully even when getting old."

She glanced meaningfully at my casual clothes.

I ignored her eyes and said calmly, "I can't drink, so I'll just drink coffee."

But Matteo frowned.

"You can't drink? Tiffany, are you kidding? Is this what you mean by not being angry? This is not the place for you to fool around."

Hanna ignored what I said and directly picked up the wine to fill the empty glass in front of me, handing it to me.

I pressed my lips to suppress my anger, and when I spoke again, my voice was cold.

"I said, I can't drink today! I've been taking medicine lately."

Hanna glanced at Matteo, who had a gloomy face, then smiled sweetly and forced the wine glass into my hand.

I pushed it away, and the wine splashed onto her chest.

Her dress was soaked instantly.

A crisp sound was heard.

The glass fell on her foot and shattered, leaving a bright red blood mark.

There was a sudden silence in the room.

Matteo's face turned dark.

He stood up suddenly, slamming the fork down on the table.

"Tiffany, what's wrong with you?!"

"How long are you going to make trouble? Hanna has already apologized and toasted you. Don't go too far!"

Hanna's eyes were red, and tears brimmed in them.

I saw the scene and couldn't help but sneer.

"Apologize? Toast? Which of her words just now was an apology? Is there anything wrong with my ears or with your brain?"

Matteo was irritated by my indifferent attitude.

"You don't understand what I'm saying, right? Then I'll toast you myself!"

Before anyone could react, he grabbed my neck and tilted my head back.

Then he picked up his wine glass and poured the wine into my mouth.

I was caught off guard and choked by the strong liquor and started coughing violently.

Physiological tears welled up in my eyes, and with blurred vision, I saw Matteo carry Hanna in his arms.

He threatened me angrily, "Apologize to Hanna right now! Otherwise, we'll get divorced! I can't stand a lunatic like you for another minute!"

Just as everyone expected a loss of composure, I regained my bearing and nodded, flushed.

"Okay. Let's get a divorce then."

Matteo was so shocked by my words that he stood still.

I picked up my coat and put it on, and as I turned to leave, I felt dizzy and fell to the ground, leaving a pool of scarlet beneath me.
