Chapter 1

On the first of May, the day of my wedding—six different men showed up at my doorstep, each bringing along a child.

They all claimed the child was mine.

Worse yet, they had DNA test results to prove it.

My fiancé, Lester, arrived late and, upon seeing the scene, he flew into a rage. Without listening to a single word of explanation, he struck me across the face.

Then, the six men joined in—punching, kicking, and beating me to death.

Even as I lay dying, I didn’t understand—who were these men? I had never even met them. How could I possibly have had children with them?

The next moment, I opened my eyes—only to find myself back on April 30th.

The day before the wedding.

——

“Wifey, go to bed early. Tomorrow, you’ll be the most beautiful bride in the world. Love you~”

Lester’s voice came through the phone before he hung up. The steady beeping of the call ending made one thing painfully clear—I had been reborn.

In my past life, Lester and I were madly in love. Before the wedding, he treated me like a precious gem, never even daring to touch me. He protected me like I was the most fragile treasure in the world.

But on the day of our wedding, the moment those six men accused me, he never even let me explain. He raised his fist and turned his back on everything we shared.

The fear I felt then outweighed even the heartbreak.

Now, my top priority was to cancel the wedding!

I knocked on my parents’ bedroom door. When they opened it, a flicker of surprise crossed their faces.

“Amber? Why are you still awake this late?” my dad asked.

“Mom, Dad, I’ve decided to cancel tomorrow’s wedding.”

“What?!”

“I don’t agree with that!” My mom exclaimed, her reaction oddly intense.

They had never scolded me harshly—not once. After all, I was their only daughter, and they always indulged my wishes.

Maybe they thought I was just being willful this time.

Dad gently patted Mom’s shoulder and looked at me with a sigh.

“Amber, canceling a wedding isn’t something you can just say and do. Some of our distant relatives are already on their way. The banquet at the hotel is all set. It’s not that simple.”

“Did you have a fight with Lester? This is all our fault—spoiling you too much.”

I looked at them squarely in the eye. “Lester is cheating on me.”

In my past life, not only did he fail to come pick me up for the wedding, he also showed up late to the ceremony—with obvious hickeys on his neck.

“Impossible. You must be imagining things,” Mom said coldly.

That look in her eyes—it was so unfamiliar.

If this had happened before, the moment she heard Lester might be cheating, she would’ve marched straight to his house with me to confront him.

Taking a deep breath, I spat, “I’m not going to that wedding tomorrow. Please call the hotel and cancel.”

Our entire wedding had been arranged by my parents. Lester’s parents were both dead, and his older brother and sister-in-law had scrimped and saved to put him through college.

“If you cancel the wedding out of the blue, how are your father and I supposed to show our faces?” my mom snapped.

Those words suddenly felt familiar.

In my past life, when those six men ruined me and the gossip spread like wildfire, Mom had said the same thing.

“How could you do something like this behind our backs? You’ve completely embarrassed your father and me!”

Back then, I was too busy defending myself to notice how strange my parents’ reactions were.

Dad tried again, more gently this time.

“How about this—since you and Lester haven’t officially registered your marriage, just go through with the ceremony. If he really is cheating, you can divorce him afterward.”

He kept signaling Mom with his eyes. Eventually, she nodded in agreement.

“I’ve already sent a message in the family group chat. None of the relatives will be coming tomorrow.”

With that, I turned and walked into my bedroom.

It was my second life, and nothing matters more than life itself.

I will stay far away from those six mysterious men.

That night, I was plagued by nightmares.

At dawn, someone banged hard on my bedroom door.

“Amber, open this door right now! How dare you pull such a shameless stunt and then lock yourself inside!”

It was my mother’s voice.

A chill ran down my spine.

Something was wrong.

I must not open that door.
