Chapter 1

On our wedding night, my wife, Gwen Everett, has received a classified mission that requires her to go on an urgent business trip.

After watching her leave with a smile on my face, I quickly turn on the GPS locator in her phone right away. The locator shows that she's making a beeline toward a love motel.

Immediately, I hack into the motel's security cameras. In the monitor, I can see Gwen making love to my younger brother, Deacon Hopkins, passionately.

After they've used three packs of condoms, Gwen shields her belly while whining cutely to Deacon, "Be gentle to me. Don't hurt the baby, okay?"

Deacon just smirks as he begins peppering kisses all over her, making her blush brightly.

"Then you should get pregnant for a few more times. At the end of the day, Derek's the one raising them anyway."

My heart feels as though it has gotten plunged into the icy abyss.

At that moment, my department calls me and asks me about Gwen's whereabouts.

As I watch the couple entangling with each other on the screen, I reply calmly, "I want to report Gwen Everett for forging her schedule. She might have betrayed the nation by fleeing with core technology."

Gwen Everett's superior, Chief Anton Boyle, immediately spoke in a stern voice.

"Are you sure about that, Dr. Hopkins?"

Just then, Gwen's phone rang on the surveillance camera monitor. She glanced at it for just a second before her expression changed immediately, and she abruptly stopped what she was doing.

After hanging up, she immediately dialed my phone multiple times. She called me 18 times, but I never picked up a single one.

I repeated into the phone and said, "My wife, Gwen Everett, claimed to be on a classified business trip tonight, but it turns out that she was having a secret rendezvous with someone at a hotel, and she also rejected the internal surveillance call.

"Thus, I suspect that she has defected."

Anton went silent over the phone for a long time. Finally, he said, "Please stay where you are and protect yourself, Dr. Hopkins. We will be there in a minute."

I hung up and quietly watched the monitor.

Gwen was completely panicking now. She abandoned Deacon Hopkins, my younger brother, and rushed out of the hotel as quickly as she could.

Meanwhile, Deacon called out behind her in confusion. "Gwen! Where are you going?"

Gwen didn't even spare him a glance. The lust in her eyes had vanished, and it was now replaced with terror and anxiety.

However, a split second later, the entire hotel was sealed off by dozens of military trucks with classified license plates.

The army surrounded Gwen, and countless dark gun barrels were pointed at her.

"Please come with us, Ms. Everett!"

Gwen's face went as pale as a ghost.

As she was led out with her hands cuffed behind her, she caught sight of me standing outside the door, watching everything with a cold expression on my face.

Her eyes widened instantly, and she screamed hoarsely at me.

"Derek Hopkins! What do you think you're doing? I'm innocent!"

I just chuckled coldly.

Of course I knew that she was "innocent". She didn't defect. The only thing she did was to cheat on me and sleep with my younger brother on our wedding night—the day I'd been looking forward to for a very long time.

But why should I even bother explaining anything to the officers on her behalf?

She should have known better, that this day would come the moment she lied to me and stabbed me in the back like this.

The army personnel didn't care for Gwen's loud screaming as she was harshly hoisted into one of the trucks.

Deacon was also cuffed and brought down to the hotel lobby. When he saw me, however, his eyes widened in disbelief and he began yelling insults in my face.

"Derek Hopkins, you bastard! You did this to us on purpose!"

I stared at the hickey on his neck and said softly, "You got Gwen pregnant, didn't you? You were also planning to make me take care of your bastard child for free, weren't you?"

Deacon's face was drained of all color.

"You're really something, Deacon Hopkins."

I gripped my phone and watched expressionlessly as he was hoisted into the military truck next.

Since Gwen didn't care about cheating on me with Deacon, then, I was going to destroy everything that they had ever been proud of!
