Honey, I Don't Want Your Love Anymore
Chapter 3
Foster was completely stunned when he heard what I said.
He looked up at me in disbelief and asked, "Viola, what did you just say?"
I pursed my lips tightly and repeated it again.
Foster could tell that I was not joking and fell silent.
We had been in love for three years and had never had a quarrel in these three years. He had been infinitely tolerant of me.
We agreed when we first got together that no matter what conflicts we had, we were not allowed to say angry words like breaking up or separating.
So even when I lost my temper and smashed a cup, he never said a word of breaking up.
As a result, the atmosphere in the car reached freezing point at that moment.
He seemed to be thinking for a long time, but still couldn't figure it out.
"Viola, can you tell me what I did wrong? We were fine, so why did we break up?" Foster couldn’t help asking.
Others break up because of cheating or emotional breakdown, so there was no way to stay together anymore.
But the reason for my breakup was hard to tell.
I couldn't just say I was breaking up with him at that time because he was going to kill my whole family in the future. After all, that sounded ridiculous, right?
But my reason told me that if I didn't break up with him at that time, I would only be able to watch him and Madelyn getting closer and closer.
I took a deep breath and pretended to be indifferent in the end.
"I have no reason, it’s just that I'm tired of it," I said.
We had originally agreed to take wedding photos after getting off work that day.
The wedding dress for that day had already been picked out and it was even the style I liked so much. But I was not in the mood at all.
In the end, I cancelled the wedding photo shoot, sent Foster to his home, then blocked and deleted all his contact information.
"Viola, please stop making trouble, okay?
"Did something happen to you? Tell me the reason so that we can solve it together. Don't carry it all by yourself.
"I don't understand why we broke up so suddenly."
Without saying a word, I drove Foster out of the car.
When I was the only one left in the car, I finally couldn't hold back my tears.
I loved Foster deeply, but compared to love, I cared more about my family’s safety.
Every time I thought of Madelyn, the tragic scene of my parents being pushed off the cliff and my brother being killed by rocks came to my mind.
I didn't want them to die. So, I ended up not wanting to be with Foster anymore.
After breaking up, Foster came to my house to find me every few days. But I locked myself in my room and didn't go out for several days.
My mother thought we had had an argument, so she was very worried and came to persuade me every day.
"Viola, it's common for young couples to quarrel. But Foster treats you very well and he hasn't done anything wrong. Why do you want to break up with him?"
I just kept silent.
“If you can’t tell him the reason, at least tell me.”
"Mom, please let him go back."
In the end, my mother shook her head, sighed deeply and left.
But Foster still didn't leave. He was downstairs the whole time and made more than a dozen missed calls to me from an unfamiliar phone number.
So, I turned off my phone immediately.
I stood in front of the window and looked down.
At that time, I saw Foster looked up at me with a sad face and said, "Baby, please don’t be like this. Come and tell me the reason, okay?"
I closed my eyes, turned around, closed the curtains and didn't look anymore.
I didn't know how long it took before thunder roared in the sky.
By the time I realized it, I rushed to the window to look downstairs. It had already started raining heavily, but my ex-boyfriend, Foster, actually stood in the heavy rain without moving.
How could he not even know how to take shelter from the rain?
I walked out holding an umbrella and said, "Foster, we've broken up. Please don't keep pestering me here."
After saying that, I turned to leave, but unexpectedly Foster took a few steps forward and hugged me from behind.
He felt as aggrieved as an abandoned puppy while saying, "Baby, can you tell me what I did wrong?
"I don't want to be separated from you. I will correct whatever mistakes you tell me. I will do anything you ask me to do, as long as you don't leave me."
I froze in place and glanced back at him tentatively to ask, "Is it true that you can do anything?"
Foster nodded frantically.
So, I tried to tell him my inner thought in the end, "If I asked you to resign and never have anything to do with Madelyn again, you will do it?"
Foster looked at me in some surprise.
I knew that the job he was doing at that time was his dream job. Foster even had put in a lot of effort and hard work to get to where he was that day.
So, if I asked him to give up suddenly, he would definitely not be able to accept it easily.
As if he suddenly realized something, Foster asked me with a frown, "Viola, is it because of Madelyn?
"I have explained to you many times that we are just ordinary colleagues. We even have no other intersection.
"But as long as I remember, you're not a jealous person, so why do you... dislike her?"
