Chapter 6

In the surveillance footage, Amy was lounging with her feet propped up on the coffee table, watching TV and eating snacks.

She wasn't shy about complaining to Vincent.

"Finally, she's gone. Otherwise, I'd be stuck catering to her every day!

"This isn't having a wife; it's like having a master!

"If it weren't for her family's money and the fact she's an only child—so all that money, the house, and the car would eventually be yours—I'd never have agreed to this marriage.

"She's spoiled rotten, not fit to compare with our rural girls."

I thought, What if I haven't discovered this? I would've been blissfully unaware, and once my parents were gone, would the Adams family have ended up swindling all our property?

At that moment, I truly understood how deceitful people could be.

But it wasn't until Amy's next comments that I really grasped the depths of human malice.
