Chapter 2

When I got home, I immediately started going through Quinn's social media.

There were three posts with the most likes.

In the first photo, she was wearing an emerald bracelet. The caption read: [My boyfriend just gave this to me. Guess how much an emerald bracelet with this shine is worth?]

I recognized at a glance that it was the same bracelet Gary's mother used to wear. In Gary's family, that bracelet was meant for the daughter-in-law.

Some time ago, Gary had said it might have been left at his family home when I could not find it while tidying up. I never thought he had given it to his mistress so she could flaunt it online.

I forced down the churning in my stomach and read on.

In the second photo, Quinn was wearing a bikini and lying beside the infinity pool at a luxury hotel in Holiday Isle.

I knew the hand spreading sunscreen on her back belonged to Gary at just one glance. Because of an injury he suffered as a child, his little finger looked different from most people's.

When I checked the date, I realized it had been our wedding anniversary. He had told me he had to leave on an emergency business trip.

I had spent a long time preparing for that day. I even begged him to stay with me, but he said I was being immature and that I did not understand the pressure he was under. He went as far as to tell me to think about the bigger picture.

In the third post, also her latest, Quinn showed off all the luxury goods from her trip to the capital of Gauland. The camera happened to sweep past the corner of a credit card, and the last few digits were clearly the same as Gary's card.

I did a rough estimation. Those luxury goods were worth at least two hundred thousand dollars. I never thought Gary would be so generous with Quinn. He gave her two hundred thousand dollars worth of gifts, while all I got on the holiday was a twenty-dollar movie ticket.

When I thought about how sorry I had felt for him and how I had even planned to sell my apartment to help with his cash flow, anger surged inside of me.

I was angry at myself for being so blind.

I was angry that I had not listened to my parents back then and still insisted on marrying him.

I felt as if they had been toying with me like a fool.

In a fit of anger, I sent all the evidence I had collected to my classmate, Zach White. He was now a top lawyer at a law firm and had never lost a divorce case.

After Zach finished reading the evidence, he was furious. "Gary is so despicable. Without your parents helping him back then, would he have what he has today? Don't worry. I'll make him spit out every last thing he took from you."

Zach's words helped make me relax. Since Gary had been the one who fired the first shot, he couldn't blame me for doing what came next.

After spending half the day on the phone, my mouth was literally dry. But just after I took two sips of water, Gary's call came in. "I need to work overtime at the factory to rush an order, so I won't be back home tonight. By the way, my cousin said you met her today? I'll transfer the rent she gave me to you. Take it."

I did not even need to think about it. He must be the one who was paying that rent for her, too. Did he think confessing first meant he had nothing to hide? He was simply showing his hand.

I knew Quinn was listening, too, so I deliberately raised my voice. "It's fine. I like her a lot, actually. Just return the money to her. You're working hard overtime, so take care of yourself."

What they did not know was that when I went there that morning, I had already installed a pinhole camera while Quinn was not paying attention. I simply did not expect them to be so bold. I had only gone there that morning, and they were already sleeping together on the same night.

The two of them were naked and tangled with each other in the footage, kissing and biting at each other.

Gary did not notice anything strange in my tone, and his voice relaxed. "You should go to bed early, too. I love you, Honey."

Those words would have moved me deeply in the past.

Now, they only proved the old saying 'all men were liars'.
