Chapter 197

Chapter 197 – The First Strike

James Barnett sat in the dimly lit safehouse, the glow of multiple monitors illuminating his tense expression. On the screens, he could see the sprawling web of Dominic Reyes' operations-offshore accounts, shell corporations, encrypted servers, and operatives positioned in multiple countries.

"This is it," James said, voice low. "Every lie, every deception, every stolen identity-it all ends tonight."

Mara stood behind him, arms crossed.

"You're sure about this? There's no turning back once you act. Dominic doesn't forgive, and he doesn't forget."

"I know," James replied, fingers hovering over the keyboard. "But if I wait, he'll strike first. We've been defensive for too long."

Silas approached with a secure flash drive.

"This contains actionable intel on his most critical operations. Every hidden account, every asset, every safehouse. You hit these, and you disrupt him at the core."

James swallowed hard. He knew the risks: an exposed operation could lead to global consequences, loss of lives, and retaliation against those closest to him-Georgia, Mara, even the unexpected allies.

"Then we do it carefully. Precision over chaos. We dismantle his empire methodically."

At 2:00 a.m., James activated a series of coordinated cyber and physical operations. Silas remotely accessed Dominic's servers, initiating digital wipes that would freeze financial transactions and reveal hidden networks. Simultaneously, operatives loyal to James moved on strategic targets-safe houses, shell companies, and communication hubs.

"Every node we take down forces him to react," Mara said, monitoring the chaos. "He won't see all of it coming."

James' eyes were locked on the main screen as alerts popped up:

• A private jet, scheduled for a covert transfer, was grounded.

• Financial accounts used for bribery and manipulation were frozen.

• Communications between Dominic's agents were intercepted and decrypted.

"He'll feel the pressure immediately," James muttered.

But the satisfaction was short-lived. Another alert blinked in red: a live feed from a location in the city. Georgia and Lana were on the move, seemingly unaware of the heightened danger.

"They're walking into his traps," Mara warned. "We have to extract them-or Dominic will use them as leverage."

James clenched his fists.

"Then we move now," he said.

As James' strike unfolded, Dominic Reyes responded with ruthless efficiency. Operatives who were supposed to be neutralized emerged from hidden locations, forcing James' teams to adapt in real-time. Financial assets shifted instantly, encrypted messages rerouted, and covert threats were deployed against anyone who could identify Dominic's network.

A sudden alert from Georgia's location made James freeze.

"She's in the crossfire," Silas said, voice tight. "Dominic is leveraging everything we disrupted to lure her into his grasp."

James' decision was immediate.

"We split. I'll handle Dominic's network. Mara, Silas-get Georgia and Lana out of there."

As James executed the digital offensive, Dominic appeared on a hidden video feed, smirking.

"Brave, but foolish," he said. "You think dismantling my empire will stop me? You've only exposed yourself."

Suddenly, alarms blared from multiple locations. The city lights flickered. Power grids, tied to Dominic's covert operations, were destabilizing.

"He's counterattacking... globally," Mara said, watching alerts flash in real-time.

James' fingers flew across the keyboard, trying to maintain control.

"I don't care how many layers of his operation there are. Tonight, Dominic Reyes loses. One way or another."

But a new alert appeared: an unknown location showing a building where one of Dominic's primary operatives-someone Georgia trusted-was under threat.

"No... he's using them as bait," James muttered, horror dawning.

The first strike had begun-but the first casualties were already imminent.

James realized that while he had hit Dominic's operations hard, the cost was escalating faster than anticipated:

Allies were in danger. Operatives were moving against them. And Dominic was watching, calculating, and ready to strike back where it hurt most.

The battle lines had been drawn.

The first strike was only the beginning-and James Barnett now understood that victory would demand every ounce of strategy, courage, and ruthlessness he could muster.
