Eric smiled.

“Just happened to be passing by, thought I’d pick you up for the company dinner party.”

“Tonight’s not just any dinner—I’ve got something important to announce. You better be the first to stand up and support me!”

Sarah nodded eagerly.

“Of course!”

Eric cast me a glance, then looked at the shredded Divorce Agreement on the floor by my feet. With a smirk, he said,

“David, fighting with Sarah again?”

“You’re a man, and yet you bicker with your wife all day. Don’t you find it pathetic?”

“I heard from Sarah you’ve been working delivery shifts after your day job just to make ends meet?”

“David, you graduated from a top university, and yet you’re worse off than me—a high school graduate?”

“Let me give you a chance. Come work at my company.”

“I’m not saying you’ll strike it rich, but when my company goes public at the end of the year, if you work hard and earn some stock options, you could become a millionaire overnight.”

I ignored Eric’s sneering and temptation, my face cold.

Sarah shot me a vicious glare, then turned to Eric with a sugary smile.

“Don’t mind him. He’s just a petty mule. Probably had a rough time on deliveries today and decided to take it out on me.”

Eric gave me a contemptuous glance and said mockingly,

“You take out your frustrations on your wife? Real impressive, David.”

“When my company goes public at year’s end, Sarah’s stock options will be second only to mine. She’ll be worth tens of millions, maybe even over a hundred million. Then you really won’t be able to hold your head up in front of her.”

Sarah’s face glowed with excitement. She threw me a disdainful look, then quickly pulled Eric out the door, as if afraid I might lose control and lash out.

Not long after they left, my phone buzzed.

It was a video from Eric.

On the footage from his car’s dashcam, Eric and Sarah were half-dressed, locked in a passionate kiss.

The taunt was obvious.

In the past, I would have flown into a rage, ready to kill him.

Now, I only felt disgust. The anger was gone.

When you care about someone, their every move stirs your emotions.

But once you stop caring, nothing matters anymore.

I packed my things into a suitcase and drafted another Divorce Agreement.

Since I had already decided to divorce Sarah, there would be no turning back.

As night fell, I waited at home for Sarah’s return.

That was when a message from the bank arrived.

When I read it, my face froze in shock.

The three hundred thousand dollars in my account had been completely drained.

That money was partly what I had scrimped and saved over the years, but mostly the inheritance left by my late parents.

After our marriage, Sarah had managed that account. I had reminded her countless times never to touch it unless it was for buying a house or raising kids in the future.

And now, the entire three hundred thousand was gone.

My first instinct was to call Sarah.

When she picked up, I could hear loud, chaotic noises on her end—cheers and excited shouts.

Frantically, I demanded,

“Did you transfer that three hundred thousand out of the account?”
