Chapter 2

My dress was torn to shreds, and my jewelry was snatched away.

Some folks even took advantage of the chaos to grope my chest and my butt.

"Call the police!"

Amid my struggling, I shouted at Yale, who was mingling with his family and friends.

We had planned two engagement banquets, with today reserved solely for the groom's relatives and friends.

Unfortunately for me, Yale only stood aside and watched coldly. "You're a mistress. You deserve to be beaten! A woman like you is not worthy of someone like me. I'm calling off this wedding!"

With that, he dropped the microphone and left.

I always thought he had a pure and kind heart, which was why I didn't mind that he and his family were draining my resources. I was truly blind!

All the attendees present cursed and swore at me. Not a single relative or friend of his cared about me.

I was so furious I thought I would go nuts. I struggled to break free from their grasp; my mind was set on calling the police.

Just as I keyed in the first digit, Sylvia swiped my phone from my hands and flung it to the ground.

The screen immediately shattered.

Like bandits, the horde tore through all the engagement gifts I hadn't even had the time to unwrap.

"A diamond watch! This must be worth over 100 thousand dollars. A mistress doesn't deserve this!"

"So many nice things for the mistress. What right does she have to own them?"

They pocketed the smaller items like watches and jewelry. What they couldn't take, they cut, smashed, or threw around.

I hadn't been this infuriated in ages. "I'm warning you—what you're doing now is illegal! Sylvia Warner, get a grip on the people you've brought.

"The things you're trashing and stealing are worth nearly five million dollars. This is an amount that you won't be able to afford even if you sold your husband's company!"

I had organized all the arrangements for the engagement banquets and drinks. These alone cost nearly 150 thousand dollars.

My diamond tiara was custom-made.

Taking into consideration the gifts my family and friends had specially sent me, the total amount could only be a multiple of that.

Yet, Sylvia didn't seem interested in anything else but cursing me out. "You filthy witch! Everything you're wearing belongs to me. How dare you come flaunting my husband's things? Who do you think you are? Strip her!"

The crowd pounced at me.

Someone even took out a knife. "Guys, hit the like button! Once we get 500 thousand likes, we'll slash the mistress' face!"

The fruit knife looked incredibly sharp. I had no doubt it would pierce my face effortlessly.

In my entire life, I had never been in a fight, nor gone haywire. I was never one to take risks.

But I couldn't bear this any longer. I couldn't stand being bullied like a defenseless little chick!

"You're just garbage who call yourselves the Anti-Mistress Alliance. Do you really think that gives you the right to be lawless?"

Raving mad, I charged at them. I snatched the knife from the woman's hand and plunged it into her body without hesitation.

I didn't even look to see where I had struck her. What followed immediately was a scream of agony from the mass. "The mistress is attempting murder!"

At best, murder would be an act of excessive self-defense.

I'd rather go to prison than suffer this unreasonable disaster and let others bully me!

The stabbed woman collapsed to the ground. Her blood flowed out at an alarming rate.

The group of people backed away in a panic and tried to escape.

My wrath was blazing within me. I tossed the knife aside and picked up a rod they'd thrown on the ground. Those who were seeking trouble and taunting me with sarcasm each got a whack.

I pulled Sylvia back by her hair and kicked her in the stomach. I knocked her to the ground.

Then, I stepped on her face, took her phone, and called my secretary.

"This is Yvette Stone. Notify Frederick Lane right now that the investment is canceled!

"Also, call the police and arrange for a lawyer. I have been robbed and verbally assaulted in public. All of them must go to jail!"
