He Lost His Luna to His Own Betrayal Chapter 1

After being framed by her half-sister Virella Moonfall, Lyra Moonfall was cast into the Silverbound Prison by her own blood—her doting brother Kael and her fated mate, Ronan Bloodclaw, heir of the Bloodclaw Alpha line.

Inside those iron-clad stone walls, beneath wards of cold iron and binding sigils that dulled even a wolf’s spirit, Lyra endured endless humiliation. Even her wolf grew quiet there, as if the Moon herself had turned her face away.

When the gates finally opened for her release, she stood barefoot on the frost-bitten earth, thin moonlight catching on her pallid skin. The prison warden did not look at her with cruelty, but with weary disappointment.

“Your sentence is fulfilled,” he said. “You are free to go. A daughter of the Moonfall bloodline should remember her place. Live quietly from this day forward… and do not bring shame upon others again.”

Lyra said nothing.

Once, she had been the pride of the Moonfall pack—eldest daughter of a noble house blessed by the Moonstone, raised under silk canopies and sacred rites. Now, even the wind seemed to hesitate around her, as though uncertain whether she still belonged to the world of the living or the forgotten.

Rumors had painted her as cruel. A wolf who tried to spill her own sister’s blood.

What a waste, they had whispered, of a beautiful face and a tainted soul.

Lyra stepped down from the prison steps, the wind tugging at her loose dark hair. Beneath the ache in her chest, something deeper stirred—her wolf, wounded but still breathing.

A year ago, everything had shattered.

Her father had brought Virella back to the packlands.

A daughter born outside the sacred bond. A child of betrayal.

Morwen—once a servant in the outer territories—had long since been placed within the Moonfall keep, her presence quietly replacing Lyra’s mother’s memory in the household stone. And with her came Virella.

From the moment she arrived, the balance of the pack shifted.

Virella wept softly in the halls, spoke gently before elders, and bowed her head just enough to appear fragile.

And then the accusations came.

Lyra had supposedly sent mercenaries through the forest paths. Wolves who swore, under binding oath, that she had ordered Virella’s death.

Her father had roared like a storm-born alpha when he saw the testimony stone.

“Even if you cannot accept her,” he had said, voice shaking with fury, “she is still your sister. My blood runs in her veins. How could you be so heartless?”

But Lyra had not done it.

When she reached for truth, it was already too late.

The mindlink summons had already been sealed against her will, her voice cut off from the pack. Guards dragged her through the courtyard as packmates looked away.

“I did not—” she had tried to reach them through the bond, but even that was swallowed by silence.

Her father had thrown the truth-stone to the ground. It cracked open like an omen.

“See for yourself,” he had said coldly. “They have confessed. And still you deny it?”

Inside the memory trace, a man trembled under oath-binding magic.

“It was her,” he said, eyes wide with fear. “Lady Lyra commanded it. I swear it upon the Moonstone.”

There were also trade seals, blood-marked agreements, proof of payments.

But none of it had come from her hand.

She had begged for the chance to speak before the council of elders, but instead she was sent straight into the Silverbound Prison—where even a wolf’s name was stripped from them.

Her father’s final words still burned in her memory.

“I have raised you too gently. Perhaps the dark will teach you what I could not.”

Now, standing beneath the open sky again, that sentence echoed like a curse.

Beyond the gates, clan messengers had already gathered—voices rising, sharp as snapping jaws.

“Lady Moonfall! Is it true you tried to kill your own blood sister out of jealousy?”

“Why were you imprisoned if you were innocent?”

“Where is your honor now that you’ve been released?”

Lyra staggered back slightly, disoriented by the noise pressing into her mind. Her wolf recoiled, overwhelmed.

“I didn’t…” Her voice broke. “I did nothing. None of this is true.”

But the questions only grew sharper.

“If you’re innocent, why were you locked away?”

“Why does no one stand to receive you?”

“Your mother was once blessed by the Moonstone—do you not fear dragging her name into ruin?”

Each word struck deeper than iron.

She pressed a hand over her chest, trying to steady her breath, but the crowd closed in like wolves circling weakened prey.

And then—silence.

A force cut through the press of bodies.

A familiar presence.

Lyra turned.

Ronan Bloodclaw stood at the edge of the clearing.

Her fated mate.

His presence was as it always had been—cold, commanding, carved from noble blood and sharpened duty. The Bloodclaw sigil on his cloak shimmered faintly under the moonlight.

With a single motion, he stepped forward and pulled her behind him, shielding her from the crowd.

“Enough,” Ronan said.

The pressure of his alpha aura swept through the clearing. The messengers fell silent, instinctively lowering their gaze.

The air itself seemed to tighten.

“This matter is not concluded,” he said, voice calm but edged with steel.

At his signal, cloaked warriors of the Bloodclaw pack emerged from the treeline, seizing the truth-stones and bindings from the messengers’ hands. No violence was needed. Only authority.

The crowd dispersed in uneasy murmurs.

Ronan did not look back as he led Lyra away.

A carriage drawn by black-furred wolves waited beyond the gates.

Inside, silence pressed between them like an unspoken wound.

Lyra sat stiffly, hands folded in her lap. The scent bond between them—the one once warm and steady—now felt strained, almost unfamiliar.

Ronan finally spoke.

“Were you standing there on purpose?” His voice was controlled. “Or were you trying to gain pity so you can twist the pack’s judgment against Virella again?”

Lyra’s breath caught.

Even now.

Even after everything.

“I didn’t say anything,” she said quietly. “I only just stepped out.”

A cold laugh escaped him.

“If I had arrived later, who knows what lies would have been carved into the wind already?”

Her chest tightened until it hurt to breathe.

Once, Ronan had been her anchor.

He had walked with her beneath silver-lit nights, when their wolves were young and restless. He had carried her home across snowfields when she was too tired to shift back. He had pressed his forehead to hers and sworn beneath the Moonstone that he would never let her stand alone.

But that was before Virella.

Before doubt entered his eyes like a poison.

Now he spoke Virella’s name like a truth carved in stone.

“She is gentle,” he said once, voice firm as judgment. “How could you do such things to her?”

No matter how Lyra had pleaded through the bond, no matter how her wolf howled in the shared silence between them, he had not listened.

Even when she knelt before him.

Even when she swore upon the Moonstone itself.

Now, he only saw a story already written.

The carriage moved through the forest path.

Ronan broke the silence again.

“Virella is waiting,” he said. “She wishes to see you. It is the day of Lord Moonfall’s gathering under the Moon Rite.”

At the name, Lyra’s fingers tightened.

Lord Moonfall.

Her father.

The bond of daughter and pack-blood had long since turned brittle.

She remembered when Virella first arrived—how she had offered her own cloak without hesitation, how she had shared the silver comb gifted by her mother’s memory shrine.

But Virella had never accepted it.

Never truly looked at her without something colder beneath the surface.

At first, Lyra thought it was grief. A child without a father’s presence, taught to hunger for belonging.

Her father had said the same.

“She is simply lost,” he had told her once. “Be patient with her.”

So Lyra had tried.

Until she realized Virella did not wish for space beside her.

She wished for her place.

And seven months ago, she took it.

The accusation. The trial. The prison.

All sealed beneath false testimony and broken trust.

Lyra leaned her head back against the carriage wall, exhaustion settling into her bones like winter frost.

Her father’s last words to her still lingered.

“This is a lesson. Be grateful Virella showed mercy.”

Mercy.

The word tasted like ash.

She turned her gaze toward the passing trees.

Soon, when the Moon Rite ended and the gathering dissolved into silence, she would leave.

Not as daughter.

Not as mate.

Not even as Moonfall.

Just a shadow slipping beyond pack territory, where even the Moon’s memory could not follow her.

And this time, she would not look back.
