Chapter 3

They kept saying that I was a useless waste, but I hadn't been home for only three days and the house was in chaos.

Karen liked her dad because her dad never paid attention to her. When he was in a good mood, he played with her, but when he was in a bad mood, she couldn't even see him.

No one picked up Karen after school, and no one cooked for her, so she had to call her grandparents.

But the old couple was used to their leisurely life at home and couldn't stand her mischief every day.

Ben, who was still lying on his lover's belly, was called back with a phone call, and his face turned so dark.

As soon as I opened the door, everyone's accumulated grievances found a vent.

Karen's grandparents scolded, "Do you even know how to come back alive? Is there any mother like you who leaves her child at home and goes out to have fun?"

Karen ran over and pushed me to the ground, "You shameless woman, how dare you not answer my call? Did you go out with a lover?"

Ben came forward and slapped me: "Is what Karen said true? You shameless woman, how dare you cheat on me?!"

This slap was quite strong, and my face instantly swelled up, completely shattering the last trace of illusion I had about this family.

I looked at my family coldly. Their expressions were fierce, their words were vulgar, and they all looked down on me as if I were a heinous criminal, a rat that everyone shouted to beat on the street.

This family, from beginning to end, was rotten to the core.

I stood up and walked towards the kitchen.

Karen looked disdainful, "Now you want to please me? It's too late! The food you dirty person made is all dirty, it's disgusting even to smell it!"

Disgusting?

I held a kitchen knife, took big steps towards Karen, pressed the back of the knife against her neck, grabbed her hair with one hand, and banged her head against the wall after each sentence.

"I get up at five every day to make breakfast for you. How come you don't find it disgusting when you eat it?"

"When you go out and spend my money on eating, drinking, and having fun, how come you don't find it disgusting, huh?"

"When I have to clean up the mess you caused outside, how come you don't find it disgusting, huh?"

Karen was so scared that she wet her pants, even though her forehead was bleeding from being banged against the wall, she didn't dare to resist.

"Let go! You crazy woman!"

Ben came up to pull me, I swiped the kitchen knife backhandedly, and instantly a bloodstain appeared on his arm.

"And you, you keep a mistress outside and got her pregnant. Do you have the nerve to accuse me of having an affair?"

After saying that, I slammed the detective's photos on his face, silencing him.

Ben's parents pointed at me and cursed, "My son is so outstanding, there are plenty of women chasing after him. Must he hang himself on your crooked tree?"

"A massage girl can marry a deputy principal of a middle school. You should feel honored!"

Hearing this, I was so angry that I threw the kitchen knife. It landed right on the table in front of them, scaring the two old people pale.

"Since I gave birth to our daughter, you have never liked me. But all the money for your trips and hiring a nanny comes from me. Can your son's monthly salary of 2,000 dollars support you two useless old people? The fish rots from the head down, and that's saying about you!"

Ben shouted, "Enough, Ann! You're crazy! We must divorce, we have to!"

"Yes, I am crazy, driven crazy by all of you!"

I took out the divorce agreement that I had prepared long ago from my bag.

"Meet at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau at 8 o'clock tomorrow morning. You must leave with nothing!"
