He Chose His Mistress Over Our Child
Chapter 2
By then, I no longer cared who Wayne was with.
Wayne and Madilyn's affair started four years ago.
It was the kind of story straight out of a cheap dime novel. Madilyn was working at a café when she accidentally bumped into Wayne and spilled coffee all over him. Eventually, Wayne hired her as his secretary.
She was a terrible secretary, constantly screwing up and making her boss clean up her messes. By the time I realized something was wrong, it was already too late. They were tangled up in each other, day and night, in Wayne's office.
Ironically, I had planned to surprise Wayne for Thanksgiving that day. Opening that office door to the horror inside nearly stopped my heart.
Wayne didn't even hesitate to ask for a divorce. He said he'd give up everything, walk away with nothing, just to be with Madilyn. My whole world shattered right then and there.
Three years of love. Four years of marriage. Wayne had always been there, giving me anything I asked for. The boy who fell for me at first sight freshman year, who wrote me endless love letters, who stood outside my dorm every day promising me forever—he was gone.
I cried. I raged. I threw tantrums. I even printed their explicit photos and plastered them all over the office. In return, Wayne despised me, and we fought nonstop. He held Madilyn close and looked at me like I was the filthiest trash on earth.
“Davina, you're insane,” he sneered. “I'm filing for divorce.”
He moved out to live with Madilyn. They watched sunrises and sunsets together and flew to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. And me? I was trapped in my own private hell.
I blasted their affair across their university alumni forums and local websites, making sure everyone knew how they'd betrayed me. I branded them “homewrecker” and “cheater.”
All I wanted was revenge. But Wayne hit back even harder. He auctioned off intimate photos of me for a dollar apiece. My private pictures spread everywhere. Then he announced that anyone who could seduce me would get a million dollars.
Every time I stepped outside, sleazy men were waiting for me.
“Miss Chapman, why so cold? You were so wild in bed. I could show you I'm better than Mr. Chapman. Wanna give it a try?”
One rainy day, the second I left the house, someone dragged me into an alley. Disgusting hands ripped at my clothes, forced my legs apart. Madilyn had sent them. She stood there filming my humiliation, laughing like she was savoring every second.
She hated me for ruining her life. “Davina, did you ever think this would happen when you called me a homewrecker?”
I lay there like a broken doll, blood trickling from my mouth, but I felt nothing. My heart was just an empty hole.
When Wayne finally showed up, he didn't even glance at me. His eyes were only for Madilyn. To him, I was nothing but filth.
“Davina, you brought this on yourself. If you'd just agreed to the divorce earlier, do you think we'd be here now?”
Wayne had already filed the divorce papers with the court. One nod from me, and we could've been strangers.
But back then, I couldn't let go. I was too stubborn to divorce him. The rain hit me like slap after slap, and just when I was about to cave, Madilyn went to my grandmother Greta with the video of my humiliation.
