Chapter 4

I sat in the car, watching the surveillance footage from home. At some point, the two of them had already gotten tangled up together.

I immediately went upstairs and found another partner at the company, Lea, to process my resignation. Lea was surprised to see me at the office on a weekend and casually asked a few questions.

But she was reluctant to sign my resignation and tried to console me, "Tommy, you and Olivia have been together for ten years. How many ten years does a person get? Olivia is just looking for something new, she'll definitely come around soon."

I gave no comment, my face cold as I pushed the resignation agreement forward, "Lea, just sign it."

She tried to coax me, "What's wrong with you? Can't you take good advice? You've been relying on Olivia all these years. Without her, where are you going to find another rich woman like that?"

I didn't respond. When a man makes a mistake, it's considered normal. But when a woman does, there are a thousand excuses to justify it.

And I'm just supposed to stand still, waiting for the one who hurt me to turn around and love me again.

Lea, right in front of me, called Olivia several times, all of which she hung up. Olivia was busy 'liberating her nature' now, even the king himself wouldn't get her to answer.

"Hmph, I really tried for you." I watched Lea finally scrawl her signature across the resignation form. I grabbed the signed document, packed up and left the office.

By the time I got home, they had finished their 'business'. The moment I stepped in, an unpleasant smell hit me.

"It's weekend, where did you go?" Olivia still had a flush on her face, her expression slightly unnatural.

"Went out to get some medicine." I lifted the bag in my hand and walked straight past. As I passed Judas, I said, "Make sure you clean up. Your boss has a cleanliness obsession."

Without waiting for a response, I shut my bedroom door.

As expected, there was a burst of yelling outside, then footsteps storming toward the door. But I had already locked it.

Olivia shouted, "Tommy, you got a temper now, huh? Making me lose face in front of someone like that?" After several rounds of banging on the door, silence returned.

I waited until I was sure they had left before stepping out.

Olivia didn't come home even by the next morning. That gave me just enough time to call the moving company.

I sent my luggage to the address Jade had given me. She said someone there would handle forwarding it abroad. She waited for me at the airport.

Before leaving, I took one last look at the place I had called home for so many years.

This was the house Olivia bought with her first big earnings. Back then, she put only my name on the deed, saying this was the home she was giving me. But now, she wanted to give a home to another man.

In the cab to the airport, I received a text from the City Hall, it was a marriage appointment made by Judas. I couldn't help but laugh.

No wonder he insisted on coming over for dinner, he wanted to show off how loving he and Olivia were. Too bad all his scheming was wasted. Even without today's show, I was already planning to leave Olivia.

[Olivia, I've canceled the marriage appointment.]

[Let's break up.]

After sending the message, I blocked all her contacts.

At the airport, Jade stood waiting by the exit. She held a neatly wrapped box and handed it to me when she saw me, "I brought your favorite chocolates."

She was still gentle and warm, smiling as if there had never been years of lost contact between us.

I couldn't hold it in anymore, I hugged her and broke down crying.

"Don't cry." Just like before, she patted my head and told me not to cry.

I didn't know how long I cried in her arms before I looked up. She tapped my nose and said, "How are you still such a crybaby after growing up? Come on, take me to go shopping. Our flight's the day after tomorrow."

She pulled me into a car and I asked in confusion, "Why not tomorrow?"

"I have a meeting tomorrow. I'll take you with me, you should see something new." Jade noticed I wasn't in the mood, so she didn't take me to too many places. She just bought me a few bags and some clothes.

She even teased me about gaining weight. Said my old sizes didn't fit anymore. I laughed and told her to quit talking nonsense. Amid the banter, I actually felt a lot better.

Back at the hotel, I unexpectedly found several missed calls and messages on my phone.

They were from Lea's husband. He was the one I talked with most at the company.

Before I could call him back to explain things with Olivia, he sent me a voice message, [Tommy, something happened to Olivia ... the police have come to the company.]
