Chapter 1

The year I loved Ethan the most, I personally made a suit named after him.

He was overjoyed, holding me and saying it was the most precious gift.

A few years later, Ethan became a big star. Backstage at an awards ceremony, he eagerly changed into a suit identical to the female lead's.

He looked at me with disdain and said, "So cheap. The things you make don't match my status."

Later, they were photographed passionately kissing in a private residence. Everyone said they were a match made in heaven and Ethan didn’t deny it.

I neither cried nor made a scene. Instead, I casually booked a ticket to Sundora, ready to leave all this weariness behind.

——

News from Dreamscape came quickly.

Just after I booked my flight, the company's representative called to sign a contract with me.

The man on the other end of the line sounded excited, “Miss Johnson, thank you for your choice. We’ll have someone at the airport to pick you up next Monday.”

It turned out that saying goodbye wasn’t all that difficult. Yet, because of Ethan, I willingly trapped myself in this small world.

"Alright, see you then."

I didn’t know when the door opened, Ethan, reeking of alcohol, hugged me from behind. "Who are you talking to on the phone?"

In a panic, my phone fell to the ground as I struggled out of his embrace to pick it up.

Sensing my resistance, Ethan spoke with clear displeasure, "What’s wrong with you again? Linda and I are just playing along for show."

There was a brief silence before his phone rang. From the other end came a coquettish voice, saying to him, "Ethan, the director made me drink, I'm so scared.”

Ethan’s expression changed immediately, his eyes filled with hostility. "If he dares to touch you, he’s finished. Stay there and wait for me."

I watched as Ethan walked away from me, the sound of the door slamming shut echoing behind him.

It was the same familiar scene again. Every time Ethan came home drunk, Linda always had some way to lure him back out, leaving me behind as if it didn’t matter.

This time, I was already used to it. With indifference, I went to the bedroom to pack my things.

As expected, Ethan didn’t come back. I stared blankly at the youthful photo on the bedside table. It was taken during the start of production when Ethan first played the second male lead. He was wearing a burgundy suit I had made for him, smiling brightly under the sunlight.

I never thought that five years later, everything would change.

Ethan had become a sought-after actor, while I was still just a poor tailor who only knew how to make clothes.

I threw the photo into the trash, along with all the anniversary gifts I had given him. Some of them Ethan had even carefully taken care of.

Before turning off my phone to sleep, I received a provocative voice message from Linda along with a photo.

In the photo, a man's fingers rested on a woman's waist, revealing an intimate kiss mark.

“Ethan, you're amazing. Is that woman unable to satisfy you?”

The voice message ended with Ethan's voice.

"How could she compare to you? She’s just good at making some cheap handmade things."

My heart ached and tears rolled down my cheeks, forming a small puddle on the floor.

The next morning, Ethan unexpectedly came home.

I watched as he busied himself frying eggs and warming milk for me. "I know you like breakfast, so I rushed back just to make this for you," he said earnestly, as if nothing had happened the night before.

He really came back to cook breakfast for me.

If not for the pungent perfume on his shirt, a lingering reminder of his night with Linda, I might have believed him.

I took the milk from him and casually asked, "What was so urgent that you had to rush out last night?"

Ethan's gaze flickered and he spoke with obvious deceit. "They added a scene last minute last night. I finished filming and went straight to sleep in the car."

I showed a look of disbelief and Ethan immediately became annoyed. "Are you looking for another excuse to throw a tantrum, Mia? Stop it!"

Not wanting to argue over an answer I already knew, I simply lowered my head and gave him no response.
