Goodbye Pain, Hello Joy
Goodbye Pain, Hello Joy Chapter 1
My mother was in the hospital, and before she passed away, her final wish was to meet my amazing fiancée who was a superstar.
I phoned her and waited in the bone-chilling snow for her arrival. However, just before our meeting time, she canceled with the explanation that there was an urgent matter at the company.
My mother passed away with regret because she didn’t see my girlfriend.
I knelt in front of my mother, heartbroken, but at this moment, I received a photo from her first love.
Only then did I realize that at the end of my mother’s life, when I was at the most lonely and helpless time, my fiancee was with another man.
Trembling, I sent the photo to her and questioned her, "Is this why you didn’t come to meet me?"
The next afternoon, I received a firm reply from her, "He was heartbroken because of his breakup and couldn’t copy without me!"
I felt a sharp pain in my heart.
The wound that had been sprinkled with salt would never heal.
"We should call it quits!"
I gave her a same firm reply and then blacklisted her.
The first time I met Bella Green was at the anniversary celebration of high school.
She was young and lively, with a beautiful face and a graceful figure. Her beautiful singing attracted me deeply.
I had a crush on her for three years in high school.
My grades are excellent, and I could have applied to top universities. In order to pursue her, I lowered my grades and went to the same school as her.
Because of her beautiful singing, she was soon discovered by the talent scouts and signed with the largest music company, the Southern Media Group.
At that time, I was happy for her but also very sad.
I was happy that she could finally realize her music dream. But at the same time, I worried that her talent would lead to a bright future for her and create a significant gap between us.
So the only thing I did in college was to pursue her.
After becoming her boyfriend, I cherished her even more and applied for a position at her company to work for her dream.
In order to get her a good song, I waited at the door of a famous musician’s house for two days and one night.
She didn’t disappoint me. As the song gained popularity, her value increased and she became the center of attention. Numerous advertising and business opportunities came her way, and she even ventured into the film and television industry.
I had spent all my youth and dreams on her.
However, I have given my all, only to find myself alone in the bone-chilling cold wind, waiting for someone who wouldn’t show up.
What I got in return was the regret of my mother before she passed away.
What I got in return was that when I was at the most lonely, helpless and scared time of my life, she was comforting her first love.
And her firm reply, "He couldn’t copy without me!"
Three days of mourning for my mother.
I finally let go of everything.
Let go of my youth.
Let go of my infatuation.
Let go of my past.
And, let go of her.
In the past, I used to think that I wouldn’t be able to live without her, not even a day.
But now, I could let go of everything.
According to my mother’s dying wish, I dealt with her funeral and buried her in the place where the wild chrysanthemums bloomed.
I chatted with my mother for a long time.
When I left, I didn’t expect to meet my fiancee, Bella, and her first love, Walter Kent.
"Bella, do you think Kim would like to be buried here?"
Walter asked Bella while holding the urn.
Bella was wearing a mask, sunglasses, and a cap.
I didn’t know when she started dressing like this every time she went out.
I used to think that she was already a big star, and she dressed like this to steer clear of trouble.
Seeing her again made me realize that beneath her heavy makeup, she was not true to herself!
I turned around and tried to take a detour.
However, Bella had already spotted me.
"Hector, why are you here?"
She questioned me loudly with reproach in her eyes, as if she was sure that I was following her.
After she became a star, she hated being followed. I knew that.
But after she became a star, she seemed to have changed into another person.
She became distant, no longer lively and naive, and stopped smiling at me.
She became very cold. When she conversed with others, there was a hint of restlessness in her gaze.
